I'd argue the league did us a favor. Screwed gruden sure but it got us rid of Gruden and Carr. Without that I'm not sure Brady agrees to become part owner and we sign gruden to a new 10 year extension after his breakout 8-9 season

I'd argue removing a head coach of a competitive team mid season has disastrous consequences, the ripple effects of which can last for years. I didn't want Gruden 2.0 but I think some folks say ridiculous shit because they want to pound their chest and say they were right. The NFL tanking that season for the Raiders, and the suggestion that it was a good thing, qualifies as ridiculous shit.

I agree that removing a head coach over a controversial series of events is not a good thing. I would further argue that until the court case is in session that we still do not know who leaked the emails. So until we know that, the person who tanked our season is also unknown. Hackers hack email servers all the time. I want the answer before I push the blame. Gruden will get his chance to make his case. I hope by then we are a playoff team and Davis keeps his f[raiders_icon]cking hand out of the cookie jar and let's the adults do their jobs.

The fact that they had two separate draft boards is wild, Gruden and the coaches on one side, Mayock and the scouts on the other. Sources saying Gruden wasn’t even around on Day 3 pretty much confirm that Mayock was behind picks like Maxx, Hunter Renfrow, and Nate Hobbs.

Mayock was clearly a strong talent evaluator, his issue wasn’t scouting, it was running the front office, according to sources.

Then you’ve got Gruden’s “kill tapes,” where he’d cut together negative plays to discredit prospects the scouts liked. He also gave Tom Cable heavy influence, which led to picks like Alex Leatherwood.

And per sources they panicked and botched the first-round trade-down and still ended up taking Clelin Ferrell.

Yes. Long term, the franchise needed to move on from Gruden to have any shot at sustained success. This expedited things and certainly led to some disastrous seasons to follow but we are hopefully finally on the right track now.

No team with Gruden making roster decisions will have any amount of sustained success. Gruden was largely responsible for the team being so bad for the next couple years following his release. He is actually a good motivator which has the actual talent of the team overachieving but we were so barren of talent all along the roster due to Gruden.

An NFL team’s value rising is an inevitability. In fact, no NFL team has lost value in the modern era (since 1970). As you can also see, a team’s value has no correlation whatsoever with the product on the field, the football team, wins and losses, which in my opinion as a football fan are the important parts of my relationship with a football team.

Gruden was a good coach and a bad GM. It was obvious after Tampa Bay. Crazy that Mark Davis couldn't see that and put guardrails in place. Too much with kill tapes and two draft boards. Damn.
