The Way Too Early Grade The Draft Thread
D+ we did not get our number one WR LOL
Actually, I like this draft, Spytek moved around a lot and got us some nice pieces. We did not get everything but it feels like Raiderland Christmas.

So let's see those overreaction grades. I know, I know, you cannot grade a draft for 3 years. Boo f[raiders_icon]cking Hoo. Lighten up Francis and grade this glorious weekend.
Mendoza by himself does not get us an A but the rest of the group certainly has to impress when put together. McCoy if he heals up makes the robber barons of the draft.
And there will be UDFAs and post draft pickups and drops. Tyree is going, well eventually, I mean the door s 40 yards away so it will take some time.
Grade A- but if McCoy pans out the grade could change.

I think he mentioned a while back that he is using AI because he had a stroke and doesn't have full function of his speech yet.Rabidraider wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 7:15 am Its as if the guy is AI generated. The voice alone is creepy.
edit:
I was wrong about him. It was this guy that is using AI because of a stroke.

Well we've been climbing this hill for 20+ years. I'm at the top and yes, the grass is greener.

agree, kids nothing like a tweener, rocked it at left tackle vs sec and had higher graded blocking, only reason for him even moving around to other position was his arms were short...we might actually have a rt on our hands even though we drafted him to be a backup center/guard type

Grades are foolish now. It takes at least a couple of years if not longer to get a real feel of how we did. I wish I could give myself a grade before taking a test. Hopefully, it shakes out well. I am not a fan of last years draft (albeit early). We obviously got our golden boy this year which is a game changer. Hopefully we get a few pleasant surprises (from both last year and this year).

I think we had a good draft but it ultimately be defined by whether Mendoza hits or not. I think the other defining moment will be Stukes vs McDonald vs Hood.
Having said all that, 2 drafts in and we have a clear picture of how Spy will draft. He’s got his own board (duh), likes to move down and pick up a lot of picks in the 2-4 range. Is willing to move up to get someone he wants. Loves him some OL. Loves a good RAS score.

....a real key is that spy seems to have done just about everything he could so far, to put Mendoza, and the team, in a position to be able to make it happen.TrueFan420 wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 8:15 am I think we had a good draft but it ultimately be defined by whether Mendoza hits or not. Back in the days of 3 network channels and a local station (4 in LA like me) Wild Kingdom was an automatic watch for my family.WNYRAIDER wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 7:51 am ...i'm in western NY, bills country, and fun fact, marlin Perkins was curator of the buffalo zoo before going on to MoO's Wild Kingdom....
And yes, Marlin was often watching as his co=hosts got wrapped up by a constrictor or something else.

Back in the day? Still watching it on the Roku Channel. These wild animals aren't progressing much over the decades, sad.raider_kin wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 8:28 am Back in the days of 3 network channels and a local station (4 in LA like me) Wild Kingdom was an automatic watch for my family.

Best thing about last year's draft class is it's a John Spytek draft class. Right now I look at it as getting 10 new rookies and can add in another 9 from 2025.

I loved how they floated the insurance with the show.raider_kin wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 8:28 am Back in the days of 3 network channels and a local station (4 in LA like me) Wild Kingdom was an automatic watch for my family.

Let’s hand it to the cooks..or the head chefs as they had plenty of kitchen support staff. Spytek put the two Brandons, Yeargan and Hunt, in charge of scouting and you see the end result, value in every round. Regardless of the outcome on the field, it’s so refreshing to see the Raiders run like a modern day franchise other than a team who watches the NCAA Championship game, and maybe the playoffs leading up to it, and then lazily throws darts at the participants rosters (Gruden early round method).
