The Way Too Early Grade The Draft Thread

Post by Attyla »

D+ we did not get our number one WR LOL

Actually, I like this draft, Spytek moved around a lot and got us some nice pieces. We did not get everything but it feels like Raiderland Christmas.

So let's see those overreaction grades. I know, I know, you cannot grade a draft for 3 years. Boo f[raiders_icon]cking Hoo. Lighten up Francis and grade this glorious weekend.

Mendoza by himself does not get us an A but the rest of the group certainly has to impress when put together. McCoy if he heals up makes the robber barons of the draft.

And there will be UDFAs and post draft pickups and drops. Tyree is going, well eventually, I mean the door s 40 yards away so it will take some time.

Grade A- but if McCoy pans out the grade could change.

Everyone I have read loves our draft with nothing but A's. Mr. Marquels thinks it is the worst draft ever. Hmm, whom to believe, whom to believe.

he's on troll mode. has to be, otherwise he is actively admitting he knows nothing about football, or recognizing talent. either way, lose-lose for him.

RaiderNation will enjoy the future just fine without his approval.

THE BROWNS GOT TAYLEN GREEN!

The only player that will start is the safety. Everyone else is depth at best. If it weren't for Mendoza, it would be one of the worst drafts of all time.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Raiders grades:
Day 1 grade: A+
Day 2 grade: A
Day 3 grade: A

Analysis:
I suspected Jeanty's strength through contact and open-field burst wouldn't make it past the Raiders if he was still in the green room in Green Bay. General manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll hit the right notes with Bech at receiver and Rogers and Grant improving the offensive line.
The Raiders needed at least two receivers in this draft, and they hit a home run with Thornton, an underutilized size/speed guy. Hemingway brings activity and Pegues size to the team's defensive line rotation. They picked both of the quarterbacks who played in the 2024 FCS Championship Game: Miller (North Dakota State) and Mellott (Montana State). Miller has potential as a reserve, and Mellott -- who put up elite workout numbers and ran routes as a receiver at his pro day -- was announced as a receiver when he was picked.
Aside from the A grades for all three days, the analysis is for last year's draft ?

The Raiders roster was in such need of talent upgrade at most every position, drafting this year was like throwing a rock in the ocean. You couldn't miss. Spy did a masterful job of maneuvering the board. What will ultimately make this a great draft as opposed to a good draft is if the players drafted with injury question marks pan out.

This is just another year in the rebuild process to hopefully get the team to a post season position.

Grade: B+ to A- at this point

That is a fair minded assessment.

I'm still stewing on a final grade. If we're being honest only Mendoza matters. If he is what we need him to be, we're immediately a better team.

After Maxx returned, and it became an "All In" off-season, I think you can justify the old safety in the 2nd round because he is an older player ahead of the curve

Mike Washington in the 4th is a solid add as a compliment to Jeanty who is going to take most of the snaps.

The rest of the draft class I could do without. The juice just doesn't feel worth the squeeze for me. Crawford seems like a good dude so if Maxx rubs off on him he may be the steal of the class, but it's a big if for a guy who has barely played football.

But again none of this will matter much unless Fernando is 1.01 worthy. I think the biggest critique of this class might be that our best attempt at improving the OL is a failed tackle who folks thought will be a center...and well Linderbaum just got left tackle money so we know that kid is just a question mark without a position. I think he'll be competing at LG but who knows.

If Mendoza isn't the real deal none of these guys matter. And I don't think we improved the offense much outside of Linderbaum. The defense needed major improvements but I think we should have targeted long term solutions over home runs.

C+ without the Mendoza curve. If he is the real deal we can bust on every single other pick and be okay

Pretty sure they didn’t draft him to play C. Maybe the back up if needed but he’ll be a guard won’t he?

Hes also not a failed tackle. He had highest pass block grade in country ar tackle. He just might be better fit in pros at guard.

If I had to guess he might be a LG. I'm always skeptical of tweeners but he's a good player on tape. The OL has been peppered with guys who can maybe fill one of several holes and my personal preference are dudes born to play their god given role.

I will say Zuhn has quick feet and fit's the new Shanahan ZBS system to a tee. Even if he doesn't start he'll be a multi position high level backup. But I'm not convinced he'll help us this year at all

Just a question?

Has anyone ever seen mranquales and Corleone in the same room at the same time? :eyes:

I admit to drinking and other items at times, but I have had this thought from time to time,

"Is mranquales really Corleone in disguise just to stir shit up and get members to go postal from time to time?" Just for the laugh of it, watching everyone lose their shit in one way or the other?!

I mean, its the kind of underhanded, messed up shit I'd do if I ran boards like these.
Helps with getting the post counts up too.

Now to bed let the shit wear off
