Regarding Pregnon, the last interior offensive lineman we took from Oregon (JPJ) appears to be a solid back up type rather than a Pro Bowl type. I remember the celebration that we got first round talent in the second round. Pregnon may not be worth a high second.

Taking McDonald would be a solid move. I like him over Hunter because McDonald has an NFL ready body and is a better athlete. WR Boston - would like someone like him in a later round. Is he that much better than Thornton who I think will emerge with our new QBs.

Can't compare the two. And using the school argument never rings true in my head. Pregnon plays a lot less reckless than Powers Johnson. And frankly, we have so little to base any real conclusions on Powers Johnson. He is going into his third year. His rookie season had moments, his second was in the dog house. Let's be honest, he has not been given the best situation. Hard to judge a guy who has played a total of 23 games. Oregon was in the hunt in the playoffs because of guys like Pregnon, not despite them

I do think age vs age of average or median age of competition is a big factor in evaluation. Especially early to mid-20s.

We were 1st pick for a reason and that underlines our need to solidify the trenches alongside the obvious in building around Mendoza in time.

We are not in “win-now” mode, we need to put those foundational blocks in place this season to enable (hopefully) long term success.

BPA is nearly always a reasonable strategy so in this case it would place highly Warren and Boston but the unglamorous needs are to be found with Pregnon and McDonald.

So much also depends on how aggressive Spytek will be with plenty of draft capital here but next few picks at the very least need to be viable starters from the get-go.

DTs McDonald or Miller for me at 36...Miller has a bit more positional flexibility on the DL and both are very stout against the run. Whichever skill set Leonard values more if both are avaliable when we pick.

While I have Boston as my three options at our pick, I am not as high on him as some. He is an upgrade, I am just not sure we need that upgrade this year and we can get someone on day three to fill that role for one season and that guy would also serve a duel role on STs
