Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?

Post by RunOverByHubbard »

Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.

At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

Just like Reggie right?

Now Mark, give me “it takes time” logic while also saying Telesco needed to be fired after a year

How is that not a real GM, i mean he hasn’t even had a minute to get in the door & fix what needs fixing
Again you guys are going with the “it takes time” while also saying Telesco needed to go. Spytek has done NOTHING except draft a RB w/zero burst all while the same holes from last season are still here, CB/QB/OL/DL.

Tell me something what rating system determines who the quality candidates, and then let me now an organization that DID NOT hire a highly regarded candidate

I was pissed when Mark fired Telesco. I think that may have been my breaking point for my defending him for years. Getting rid of AP was fine and necessary, but shitcanning a GM after just one year was ridiculous, especially when he wasn't the one who picked the HC.

Anyway, Spytek should get a 4-5 years to do his thing. It's not like getting a new GM every time Mark can get a free meal with his PF Changs points card has been good for the team.

I'm in the camp that says to trade Maxx, for the good of the team and his career. I'd take a 1st and a 2nd from any team. Maybe having to pick players lower in the first round would ease the pressure of having to make a splash. Instead get the best positional player available e.g. OG or OT.

And we'd still have our top 5 pick 1st and top 5 of the 2nd round picks.

Of course our FO could bungle those picks, but you can't give up based on past ineptitude by long-gone HCs and GMs.

If you are trading Maxx for the purpose of drafting a QB I don't see it in this draft class
I heard all the same stuff about Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Jackson, Hurts even Goff

Yet the likes of Young, Murray, Lawrence, Mariota, Winston were can’t miss prospects

This class is being talked about as one of the strongest in recent years but i guess you know better & we’re not even half way through the season yet

Maxx doesn’t move the needle, we all love Maxx but moving him on would give us the chance to improve the team going forward. Moving Mack was the right move we just use the pick right

This site is great for a fair critical look at the Raiders, where reddit is much more cheerful. I've noticed the "trade Maxx" topic hasn't come up there in the past few days. There is one topic of when does Maxx get pissed and asks for a trade? The other side of initiation.

No one said Telesco needed to go but it happened so stop making shit up to make your narrative look like is has some meaning

Simple facts are that Spytek was a highly regarded candidate & we hired him

As for who we’ve drafted you 100% cannot evaluate anybody after 3 games

Let’s not forget Telesco made a massive whiff on Wilkins. He’s just as guilty as any Raiders GM of making the big mistake.

How the f[raiders_icon]ck is Wikins trying to play twiddly dinks with dudes in the locker room Telesco's fault? The signing was considered a win by everyone at the time.

show me a team that had as little talent as we had who had gone through GMs/coaches like we did and had such a bad level of talent at QB like we have had and then hired a new GM/coaching staff and instantly became great.

I will wait

It’s all about the results and it’s not really and different than McDaniels signing Chandler Jones who went batshit crazy as a Raider. No excuses for Ziegler/McDaniels and none for Telesco as it’s all about the results. The common denominator is dead money for major UFA mistakes. At the very least, the new regime shied away from making the big UFA splash which has rarely ever worked out for the Raiders.

He got hurt. And that was prior to the twiddle dinks. You can not put that on the GM.

Where is he now and who and signed him? It wasn’t exactly a secret that Wilkins was a freak.

Stop. You've already lost credibility.

That’s better than never having any to begin with. The point is that you can’t just pick and choose good and bad GM results to support your cause. Telesco made some good and some bad moves as GM. Heck even McDaniels made a few good moves as Meyers and Spillane are arguably the best Raiders UFA signings this decade.
