Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?
Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.
At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

how is Maxx overrated? He is our best defensive player and that is what everyone says. When a thing is true, that is it, people are speaking the truth. He has been an All Pro twice, and is on a trajectory to be our all time sack leader.mranquales wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 10:47 pm If it were Myles Garrett, I would say no.
Controversial, but Maxx is overrated. We're closer to having a good offense than a good defense. If we are able to take those picks and upgrade our guard spots, it would be worth dealing Crosby.
That is not being overrated.

I'd probably do it. He's a great individual talent but not some game changer. He also could be the product of having very little talent on the dline and when you're getting double and triple teamed most possessions you have very little influence in the game.
Washington dropping 40 on them is more the norm than the Raiders ever hold someone under 14 in his time here.

For once we agree as trading Maxx would give you the capital to get your QB of choice which in turn gives you the QB that Bowers deserves.
I think Maxx easily nets you 2 1st’s but i’d ask for a player just like the Parson deal
If it’s a team like the 49ers then i’m asking 2 1st’s & as they more than likely be low 1st’s then a guy like Dominik Puni as well to help sort out RG
This might sound crazy but trading Maxx could end up in a net positive as you could draft his replacement plus your franchise QB

Completely agree. Getting a starting guard in addition to some picks would be excellent. Those picks week definitely be needed to get our franchise QB. I just wish Tyree would of panned out bc this would be a no brainer decision.CWood24 wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 6:07 am For once we agree as trading Maxx would give you the capital to get your QB of choice which in turn gives you the QB that Bowers deserves.

Right now, Sellers looks the part. Big guy, good arm, will run when needed. Fairly accurate, threw a few more picks in 2024 than I would like but he has been inconsistent throwing TDs, but his game translates to the NFL nicely and I see him as a second round talent.rcraider wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 6:40 am And who is this magical franchise QB you're going to draft ? cause right now this QB draft class is looking weak as piss
Avery Johnson, who I have been following for a couple years has been a bit inconsistent but still projects to be a NFL talent and probably goes in the third round if I am a betting man. Developmental guy but huge ceiling if he gets coached up a bit
But the guy who I like the most is Garrett Nussmeier. Big arm, accurate ass hell. And he followed another guy who had one helluva rookie season. I am on that bandwagon as of right now. I think by the end of the year, he is the top prospect.

Sellers is a sophomore and still raw as sushi he's not coming out early his camp has already said as much , right now it will be Allar, Nussmeier and Beck , and so far I don't see anything that screams franchise QB in any of them. If you are trading Maxx for the purpose of drafting a QB I don't see it in this draft classAttyla wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 6:58 am Right now, Sellers looks the part. Fernando Mendoza could be added to the list. There's some names out there that I'd definitely take a swing onAttyla wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 6:58 am Right now, Sellers looks the part. Allar has really hurt his draft status this season. Nussmeier has the tools to be a great QB and this season early on has said just that. I think he goes high in the first if he continues to play like he has. This weekend's game will very telling of his draft statusrcraider wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 7:05 am Sellers is a sophomore and still raw as sushi he's not coming out early his camp has already said as much , right now it will be Allar, Nussmeier and Beck , and so far I don't see anything that screams franchise QB in any of them. Oh my. That is a major blow.
McCaffery and Warner ain't getting any younger. Then they would have to consider how Purdy will be when he comes back. Add in the easiest schedule in the NFL and some serious decisions will have to be made. If you don't see them trying to pry a good DE away from some other team I would take that as a sign they aren't so confident about this year. They were headed to the playoffs but without Bosa once in the playoffs it probably changes everything.

Nussmeier will probably definitely go in the 1st rd but is he the type of QB you want ? undersized, limited mobility, pocket passerAttyla wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 7:34 am Allar has really hurt his draft status this season. I think most if not all of us have forgetten that back in January and February of this year, there was a lot of rumblings about the 49ers trying to trade for Crosby. Then the Raiders signed him long term and the talk about it ended.
Here is one story from March:
Crosby's contract extension with Raiders ends 49ers fans' trade hopes

And, a reminder about Crosby's contract:
Four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby agreed to a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension with the Las Vegas Raiders that makes him the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday. The extension, announced without terms by the Raiders, includes $91.5 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN, and keeps Crosby under contract through the 2029 season.

I think he is just at the size where "undersized" is a gray area. He can move, he just does not run like the RPO guys. And a pocket passer is actually the kind of guys I like most. Think Tony Romo type of guy, or a Bo Nix with a better arm.rcraider wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 7:57 am Nussmeier will probably definitely go in the 1st rd but is he the type of QB you want ? undersized, limited mobility, pocket passer
