Realistic expectations for the season

With Mendoza needing time to adjust, an unproven O line and what I consider average receivers, I’m not really expecting to light it up on offense.

Defensively, we should be at least middle of the pack. That should go a long ways in helping stack wins.

Having said that, we are improved across the board yet still more work to do. I would predict we have 6 wins this year, double what we had last year. If Pete can manage 3 last year, I have faith with a better coaching staff we can do better. If we can beat the teams we’re supposed to plus staying close in the 4th quarter against better talent, we have a punchers chance in some of those.

Personally, at least another year or two to make some real noise if we nail FA and the draft.

I’m not interested in the record since this is a new team and coaching staff. I am expecting this team to be competitive each game and bring consistency each week. Past coaches would be world beaters one week to be world beaten the next.

With that said, this is the best coaching staff this team had since Gruden 1.0. I have a feeling this team may double wins or go .500. Regardless of the record, this team needs to show grit to be in each game. No blowout losses this year is my expectation.

Expecting Mendoza to come out on fire and lead us to the playoffs year one is fools gold. Gonna have some lumps and learning curves along the way as this is the best of the best and he’s never played at that level. Steady improvement and lessons learned along the way is key. He seems smart enough to adapt and overcome most, not all. No Qb has or will. Keeping the defense off the field is imperative and scoring touchdowns in the red zone will be another big factor. With our running backs it’s hopeful we take pressure off and can play the TOP game. Special teams will be big along with non self inflicted penalties.
Sounds easy as I’m typing it.

I expect cousins to start and play most of the year unless we struggle almighty. Thats about it

Not trying to piss on anyone’s chips but do we KNOW the coaching staff is better?
I think I’m right in saying the HC, the OC and the DC have never held that responsibility before.
No doubt will be a learning curve for them as well. Hopefully not too steep!
Maybe they’ll take to it like a duck to water but maybe they’ll be some wrinkles.

Hopefully they will not be under pressure for the next 2 seasons, let them try and construct a team and get a culture and methodology in place.

I’d hope we’re more competitive this year. Not many blow outs. Inching towards a losing season but only by a few games, still in a good draft position, capitalise on that next year and start pushing for a winning season in 2027.

No expectations. I would just like to enjoy watching my team play once again. Really enjoy it. Put the entire schedule in my calendar app level of enjoyment. I haven’t actually planned to watch a Raider game outside of the first 2 or 3 weeks since before calendar apps even existed. Or even f’n “smart” phones for that matter.

Used to be an every Sunday event. Raider beer cozies out. Coffee table littered with chips, salsa, and guacamole. Carne Asada, bbq chicken, or New York Strips waitin’ for the grill. Friends hootin’ and hollerin’. Man, …a long long time ago.

It will definitely be different nowadays. Wives and kids. F’n Uber!!! It won’t be the same level of mad testosterone and chaos, but I don’t mind that. It would be like when I was much much younger. When the loudest people in the house were Dads and Uncles. I’d f’n love it.

There’s a lot lost when your team sucks for 3+ decades. I sure as hell hope we all get a chance to have football be like it was growing up. When every Raider game was a holiday. Family, friends, good food, good fun, just good f’n times.

I have no expectations other than to see a viable product on the field. I would think most of us know we aren't going to the playoffs... let alone the big show. Having said that............... strange things happen from time to time.

I expect to see improvement across the board: execution from players... improved play calling on both sides of the ball, accountability across the board, draft picks getting real playing time, no blowout losses, competetive through 4 quarters, etc...

This team needs to be an actual team that plays hard for each other and it's fans. It's way past time to be a viable team in the league again.

I"m gonna be very optimistic, 8-10 wins. We lost 3-4 games last year (we should have won )with a shitty game plan, and shitty coaching. We are a completely different team this year, for the better. Feeling a lot better this year than last year at this time!
