Pellet Grills.....

Unread post by Sold My Soul »

I am looking for opinions.

Bought my Blazn Grill back in 2013

Took a dump on me today....

Instead of investing in another mother board. Want to buy sa new grill.

Anyone here have a new Traeger? Seems there new units have forgone the smoke stack and have gone to a fan driven smoke system.

How much is a new board? Gotta be cheaper than buying a new Traeger. Even the small one runs about $700.

I have the Yoder pellet pooper that I bought during Covid. It’s a tank and kicks ass but I think any traeger or GMG or whatever work just fine. None of it is rocket science.

That's like saying...mmmmm.... BMW or Kia...not rocket science.

Pellet grills are changing yearly from the early days. There are many things to consider what you want/need in a piece of cooking equipment you are plunking over a grand for. One of the big things that pellet grill enthusiasts always wish for is a more intense smoke flavor that is absent from traditional offset smokers...

I'm not interested in WIFI since I am a hands on pit boss. Traeger offers a heavy smoke setting but the temperature swings are a hundred degrees making it harder to cook efficiently.

After weeks of reviewing every pellet grill on the market..I'm pulling the trigger on a Camp Chef Woodwind Pro. With any grill you get there are things you wish it had. In this case for me is an underneath cabinet. But it's not a game changer. What sold me is the firebox. Chips/chunks/coals...Made in China, but I can live with that also. Buying through Home Depot and getting my 10% Military discount.

Check it out. My boy Ricer gives you the lowdown.

Ignition, auger, pellets = rocket science

If you want more smoke, get a smoke tube. I also use it to cold smoke cheese

Got one and then some. They don't work very well. For that I'd just get some liquid smoke and mix it in the sauce....

That's another feature of the Camp Chef....just turn on the fan only setting throw some chips or chunks in and cold smoke come cheese.

I really looked at every pellet grill on the market, watched a shit ton of videos, read even more reviews....I just kept coming back to the CS.

Can't wait to get back to smoking meats and making sticks and jerky. Spring is upon us.
