Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide

Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

I LOVE Alec Pierce. He is everything we need to finish up our skill position players. Ultimate team first kid, deep threat, and a tenacious blocker. I know we obviously need to fix the OL, but this kid finishes it for our skill players. Still a pup (25) who can grow with our trifecta (Mendoza, Jeanty, and BB).

#5 on that list is our number one from free agency: Tyler Linderbaum, Center, Ravens.

Back the Brinks truck up and pay him. And I normally do not say that…

A quick preliminary look at FA;

DE Jaelan Phillips, yes! Loved him coming out & has been a really good DE. Doubt Eagles let him walk tho.

C T.Linderbaum, hell yes! The oline is in better shape than most think. Might only need one IOL starter to be a pretty good OL.

WR A.Pierce. Yes. He’s a good outside guy which Raiders need but, he’s more of a deep threat &, not all around really good. If he costs over 15m per, I’d pass.

LB Q.Walker. Yes! Liked him coming out, started off slow but has played better recently. Versatile LBer Raiders need. Wouldn’t overpay here either.

WR J.Jennings, HELLL NOOOOOOO!!! One of the most overrated WRs in the league because, Shannahan &, that team make him look so much better than he is. He’s not an X anyway. No way!!

So I don’t make this post too long, I’ll list the rest better.

Interested in:

CBs- T.Woolen, A.Taylor, J.Watson, J.Dean

Lbs- D.Lloyd, N.DEAN

OT- B.Smith (maybe),

DT- J.Franklin-Meyers

RB-

OG- D.Edwards

C- C.McGovern

DE- B.Mafe (if cheap)

This is only from that list. I know there’s more players out there that are FA’s that would be really good to look into. This team desperately needs a lot better DT production. Some of these will likely be too expensive to get…in that, you can’t go after all of them. Maybe two splashes with like 3-5 top bargain under the radar pickups. Again, these are just a few quick thoughts thrown out from that specific list only.

I do like Pierce a lot myself but, just throwing something out, what do you think of calling about MH Jr? He’s been disappointing for two years now with the Cards. I’d call &, see how down they are on him. I’d give our 2nd rounder. I just feel with what I think the Raiders could be next year offensively, he’d absolutely breakout.

A good C in FA, MH Jr for a 2nd, QB Mendoza &, a good OC/HC, this offense would be set! Top 5 easy for me next season…as long as Mendoza hits the ground somewhat running lol

Alontea Taylor has been a bright spot on a really bad Saints team. He will get a midrange contract and I would do that.
Braden Smith is a bit older but still has juice.
Franklin Myers is another older guy but he had a good year this year
Cade Mays I would do if we miss out at the top guy at the position

Good idea but I doubt they bite. Murray blows and it seems the Cards are going to move on from him. MH Jr is a beast but he has not demonstrated it to date (between Murray and the injury bug this season). I just love Pierce. Over 20 yards per reception the last 2 years with different QB's (one of which was HORRIBLE).

Agree. Doubt they bite cause, I think his disappointing play has a lot to do with Murray, the OC &, bad environment. It’s also a bit on himself for allowing that all to get to him so much cause, he’s had some issues himself. But change his environment, he’s gonna ball out big time. IMO

Murray does suck. Teams keep holding onto QBs too long. Yimmy G, Kraepernick, Murray, J.Fields, to name a few, I said to trade them 2-3yrs earlier than they were (traded or walked in FA). Teams coulda got tons in a trade. But no. They waited 2yrs too long &, got crap.

Who knows what Murray will fetch if they can trade him.

Hurts is next. I liked him coming out. Did well but has definitely regressed. They should trade him. If I were the Ravens, I’d trade Lamar too. Definitely next year for one of those top QB prospects.

Murray's value is a 5th rounder. But he is a QB so they might get a high 4th rounder

I like what I've seen from Alec Pierce, but his numbers are a bit confusing...yards per catch led the NFL for the 2nd year in a row but his receptions vs targets seem odd...plus he'll probably be asking $20 Mil per.

Lets not forget two big facts. He played with one of the worst QB's in the league two years ago (Richardson). This season, he did play with a better QB (but still nothing great). Pierce had zero drops this past season.

An interesting fact about Alec Pierce is that he was drafted with the 2nd rounder that we sent to the Packers (along with a first) for the privilege of overpaying Davante Adams in order to try and save our QB. I don't remember how the Colts ended up with that pick, but the Raiders were the original source.

I don't think we should overpay for Alec Pierce in FA though.

Any thoughts to signing Joe Flacco as backup and mentor for Mendoza? He is a free agent.

And I wonder if Deebo Samuel, WR, Washington Commanders could be had on a short cheap contract?

But Linderbaum need to be main focus if he leave Baltimore.

I’ve mentioned that Flacco, trubisky or Winston I think would make excellent back ups/mentors

Winston is a little to flaky for me. But no problem with Trubisky either.
