The entire situation is a tragedy. From what I read it was completely out of character for Ruggs. No excuses to be made. One bad decision ended lives and ruined his.
Take football out of the equation on this one.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.....What he did was inexcusable....... but do we just discard someone for f[raiders_icon]cking up before they fully grow up?
If it was my son.....or yours....would you not want him to contribute to society?
He needs to dedicate his life going forward to educate those to not make the same mistake and if playing in the NFL would elevate that voice...who am I to cast a stone upon him?

It’s a decision that he made.

If it was my son.....or yours....would you not want him to contribute to society?

Lives were taken so that has to be accounted for. But the love of a child who made a grave thing is real as well. I would actually take a step back and realize that the son who did this must take responsibility for his actions and mourn the lives lost. I would distance myself from his actions and his punishment for his crimes. The reality is he gets to live on with his reality while she and her dog do not. He was stupid and it cost everyone but not equally. He got off cheap. Whatever he does the rest of his life that is a reality that must weigh into how he gets viewed. Life is tough, and being a famous person comes with harsh scrutiny. I do not like "cancel culture" but it is real and he may deal with some of that.

Tragic all the way around and all lives are lost or changed forever.
Having said that, there are some people that have a history of poor choices and behavior and when something like this happens, one can accept they finally must pay for their actions. There can be other scenarios where a person with no history of poor choices and are assets to their family and community and they go completely out of character and do something like this..........and I can feel a ton more empathy for that person.
At the end of the day, a poor choice was made, a woman is dead and a family has lost a loved one.

I have much more sympathy for the family of the woman Ruggs killed because of his foolishness.
