Mendoza seems odd but maybe someone can clarify why he wouldn't be signed by now. We know his deal is fully guaranteed and all but pre-determined due to the rookie pay scale. So the holdup feels a bit odd. His agent is Leigh Steinberg, who has negotiated 8 1st overall pick contracts. All of which were before the rookie salary cap. His most notable client in the league right now is Mahomes, but he doesn't really have too many other guys (Ai mentions Tua, Jeudy, and Taylor Heinicke). Hopefully the ink dries soon, we need Mendoza in the building!

Some language in the contracts, such as breach of contract etc can delay some deals. And there is a little wiggle room on the overall amount of the deal. Less than 2 million over the 4 years. Also, the signing bonus can be a sticking point. Mostly regarding the payment schedule for that. And the offset language can be a sticking point. If we cut Mendoza and he signs with another team. We would want to offset that money. Most of that is not going to delay the deal much but the bonus money payment schedule certainly would be the factor that I think will be the one part of the deal that his agent is going to be firm on. He is going to want the entire amount up front and the team is going to want to spread it out.NoThanksSir wrote: Fri May 01, 2026 11:17 am Mendoza seems odd but maybe someone can clarify why he wouldn't be signed by now. Looks like he's there! Assuming they put pen to paper.

I'm a bit surprised he's participating without a contract.

His signing could be media related. Sign everyone else and then the big one. Build up the drama.
The media is allowed inside camp on Saturday only i read.
