So can zone running. The first key to running well in a zone system, is running a zone system.

The scouting reports I have read about him have said that he modulates his speed to set up blocks, a skill that's well suited to wide zone running, We shall see.

I always worry about rookie RBs in terms of pass blocking. We will still need someone with NFL experience at the position and I think we'll likely add a cheap vet along the way. However, given the history of the Shanahan/Kubiak tree for finding and developing RBs, I'd just hope they know what they're doing. They probably do.

Black went a full round ahead of Washington, and I assume they had no intention of investing that high of a pick in him. He was a pretty big surprise to go that early and it's very possible that the Raiders were targeting him as a RB more in the range where Washington was taken. He wasn't even invited to the combine, so he wasn't expected to go in the 3rd round.
