They could draft a 1st round talent with injury concerns in the fourth and some here could find a way to moan about the sure fire HOFer they skipped over.pfish57 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 9:22 am We could draft an amputee, and some on here could find a way to justify it lol

Since when does age matter when the term "career ending" is being thrown around?BotesBoats wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 9:26 am McCoy is only 20. His career is going to be fine if he has to wait a bit longer to get a surgery. This guy is the best or 2nd best CB in the draft. Huge get.

If it takes 3 years to heal, he will still be younger than our new safety by 5 years...lolBotesBoats wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 9:26 am McCoy is only 20. His career is going to be fine if he has to wait a bit longer to get a surgery. This guy is the best or 2nd best CB in the draft. Huge get.

Falls inline with Spytek talking about building a team not just for today but for the future.BoKnows81 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 9:27 am So I ask you again. Why did a once top 10 pick fall to the 4th round if theres no concern? When have the Raiders ever proved they are smarter than other teams? Point is, this is a gamble that a contender takes. Not a rebuilding team with a rookie QB incoming.

Love the player but for sure comes with risk. To be fair, most 4th round picks are.
Personally would take a swing with McCoy than draft a player that sits or doesn’t make the team.

But not for the reason he fell in the draft, correct? If memory serves me right, that was a pectoral issue that caused him to slide. I don’t think that’s been an injury problem in his NFL tenure, thought it was a knee issue.BoKnows81 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 9:19 am Not really a great example. I like Dean but he's missed significant time since he's been in the league.

Funny, how many posters talk about being patient and The Raiders aren't going anywhere this year and then complain about taking players that won't help them today.

McCoy's ACL seems to be good after running a 4.37. His other knee apparently might need a bone plug replaced. Never heard of it but from what I gather:
"A bone plug used to address a cartilage issue in McCoy's knee might need to be replaced, necessitating another knee surgery.
According to New York University Langone, doctors, "obtain a plug of bone and healthy cartilage from a nonessential, non–weight-bearing area of the knee with a similar coring tool. The surgeon then inserts the bone and cartilage plug into the defect area, creating a smooth joint surface."
The patient can usually return to activity fully in four to six months."
Raider MDs apparently believe this can be overcome. If so, this would be a helluva pick, even if we have to wait till October to see him.

I haven't seen anyone reputable say his career is actually in danger. The prime fear is his bone plug will have to be replaced which would be an extensive recovery. Which is fine for us because we aren't drafting to win in a year and he is only 20 so he and we have the time. He could be 22, fully healed up, right about when Mendoza is starting to learn to win. The timing matches our timeline.BoKnows81 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 9:28 am Since when does age matter when the term "career ending" is being thrown around?
