Oh yeah, I figured that and there are many more we could add to the list. The Snake was an all time fav for me and I actually got to talk with him a bit when he was in Albany Ga many years ago. Among other topics, I asked him if the infamous "Holy Roller" play was an actual fumble or did he just make it look that way?...He just grinned, and said, "What do you think?"...and then winked.

Saw that play on tv live at the time; because I lived in the upstate New York area; and I was watching a game being played that was just about finished; and then the network switched over to charger vs raider game that still had time left to play….what a play

Yeah, I was in the same boat when the network switched to the Raider game...SD has us beat and when I saw Stabler getting tackled I figured the game was over. I think it was Banazak who kept the play going till The Ghost fell on it.

Because of that play the NFL changed the rules, just as they did as a result of a couple of other Raider games.

At the time I thought it was a fumble and that all it was; but then the raiders said the next day it was a play…. Until you really look at the play in replay; then you understand what the raiders did; Stabler was about to be sack and game was over; but he managed to fumble the ball in which Banazak sent the ball another ten yards toward the endzone and then Casper kinda push to the endzone and then fell on it….at the time you thought it was just a fumble; but I actually think that these guy actually designed these plays….

The San Diego chicken had the reaction for the ages.
Eat poop chargers!
And of course, a designed play all the way. :seenoevil: :hearnoevil: :speaknoevil: :smirk:.

And Rod was on that team.

Yeah, I definitely think it was intentionally done... But hey, it’s not like we’ve never been screwed out of games before.

Was looking for he old highlights of Rod Martin and realizing how cool the narration of Jon Facenda was and the classic style video of the old Superbowls. It will never be as good as that..What a great time to be alive.

That year was magical. They were expected to finish 5th in the division coming off the 1979 season. 2-3 start and Pastorini was out for the season. Then General Jim has a 9-2 run. That was my 1st semester Freshman year in college. Home to watch the playoffs for Christmas break. The amazing win in Cleveland. Vanquishing the Chargers. Caught that SB game with my dad at his VFW post. Those 3 ints by Martin and Kenny King going 80 yards up the sideline were the plays I remember most vividly.
