Russell was the shit boyz. Holding out because Al ain't gonna tell him his salary. Getting paid
Struttin around. He be covered in gold and fur. Learjets.
When he was at a B-ball game Charles Barkley was in awe of him.
He had it
and he went with in. It was his nature to spend.

What was the most irritating of all was thinking about the players he wouldn't pay over the years. Players like Vann McElroy, yet he dolled out big bucks for QB's such as Marc Wilson and JaMarcus Russell, even Jay Schroeder. To Wilson's credit he won a lot of games is a stellar person and was an insanely hard worker but he never played up to the crazy money (at the time) that Al paid him.KillerRaider30 wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 5:15 pm Russell was the shit boyz. He did. His redemption story is a good one. Only took like nine million trysToast wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 3:43 pm Go easy on Leaf. He had reinvented himself and has made an effort to help younger players avoid his mistakes. JaMarcus continues to play the victim card and doesn't seem to have worked very hard to become a productive member of society.
But yes, Between the lines Leaf most certainly did not live up to being the HOF player he was being rated against going into the 1998 NFL Draft. From that stand point I agree with you.
Yes-I am being a homer.
Go Cougs.
All kidding aside the dude had all the talent in the world but a shitty attitude. Jamarcus? I'm not sure he was ever into playing football. Every time we ever saw him the only thing that came to mind? Indifference.

Him defending his bust status emphasizes why he is the biggest bust of all time. He did not and still does not have it between the ears.
He is the epitome of talent vs grit. I will take a QB with grit over physically talented ones. Drive determines a QBs success more than throwing the ball 70 yards on their knees.

Grit is nice, Mendo has it in spades. What Mendo also has, that is even more important, is intelligence. JaWalrus is a negative in both.JP808 wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 8:02 pm Him defending his bust status emphasizes why he is the biggest bust of all time. But hey, Doofus is a genius cause he makes money. JaWalrus made money too. And JaWalrus actually worked to get that money. Hmmmmm…

Jamarcus Russell in college was really a good QB…
But he was drafted by the raiders who at the time was run by Al Davis in his decline; probably the worst team for Russell to go to….
Always thought that if Russell was drafted by another team he might have had decent career in NFL….
Not really going to call Russell the biggest bust; just think he came to the wrong team in which totally destroyed his confidence as an NFL QB….
You have to agree that in Al Davis decline; the raiders were really a bad team

Rumor has it that the team that gets the first pick of the draft is usually a really bad team.SuperRaider wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 11:24 pm Jamarcus Russell in college was really a good QB…

Yeah I know; just saying that if Russell was drafted by another team other than the raiders he might have had a decent career in NFL….Xramfan wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 11:29 pm Rumor has it that the team that gets the first pick of the draft is usually a really bad team.
I mean his HC was Lane Kiffin who was OC for a college team; and reason he was HC was that Al was struggling to get anybody to coach the raiders at that time….

No he would've turned out the same. He was asked what team he wanted to be drafted by. His answer was whoever pays him the most money. He was a giant red flag and Al ignored every single one of themSuperRaider wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 3:35 am Yeah I know; just saying that if Russell was drafted by another team other than the raiders he might have had a decent career in NFL….
