Cap and Contracts

Post by haji81872 »

Here is currently what we have for cap hits for next season with known contracts.

Finalized

Lindrbaum 16.6
Paye 9.2
Johnson 8.6
Dean 7.9
Nailor 8.1
Koonce 11.1

Final details not released yet

Walker
Stokes

Traded

Smith 9.3 in savings.

Cuts

None

Reworked contracts

None

Wilkins 30 million is still sitting on our cap space. Nothing really new on what happens with that.

Currently that is 69 million left.

Chucker told me 26 million to go to the draft class. So subtract that...

I see maybe one more splash then bottom feed the rest of free agency.

Check the Nailor thread for contract details - I posted them there recently.

In general:
We're not out of cap space.
We are also at the point that there's no reason to discuss the cash spending minimum anymore - between our signings and the cash for draft picks, we've likely surpassed that.

I think it'll be a bit less. Mendoza will have around 9-10 mil hit. Our pick 14 should have closer to 4-5 mil hit. Scale down per round and factoring in the NFL's top-51 rule for the mid round picks and later, we may only need 18-21 million for the class.

It is $26 million in cap for our draft picks. We only need $16 million available though because each of the higher priced draft picks knocks a cheaper player off the top 51 so those cheaper players' cap hit is "saved" in the top 51. In reality we'll likely release some guys who aren't on minimum salaries once we finish our draft so the net cap cost of the draft will be even less.

Overthecap has it all mapped out and will updated it if we trade any picks along the way.

The short answer is: Don't worry about it, our rookie class won't be a cap concern.

Whats left without any restructuring? About 15?
121 to start. Plus 8 for Geno makes 129. Minus 26 for draft is 103. 42 for the 4 finalized contracts leaves 61. About 46 for those other 4 leaves about 15.

OK. More like 25 since the draft will only net add 16.

Some of those contracts had good chunks of cap placed next year. The Raiders had 130 million essentially to start with.
