Won’t be there til Friday this year, hoping to find Marques Tuiasosopo to add to the guys from the 2002 team that I’ve gotten to meet in person. He’s an assistant in Detroit now. Also would like to see Trace Armstrong since he’s an agent but I’ve never spotted him any year prior.

Hopefully see some of the regulars too. Zack Crockett, Randy Jordan, Calvin Branch, Bruce Gradkowski, Josh McCown, Rod Streater. Kubiak would be cool too but is unlikely to be out where I’m at that late in the week.

Very thankful for some legit football news. I feel like there's very little to extrapolate from combine data these days but at least it'll hold us over to the tampering period.

I don't care much about the numbers that come out of the combine. But it's a start, and there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes.

Its an introduction to some of the top guys who will be drafted and I always enjoy the rumor mill. Maxx talk will be prevalent.

The proper adjective to describe my indifference to the combine as a whole, escapes me at the moment.

It's just something to get past on the way to FA

With the exception of more exposure/evaluation of fringe players or players from smaller colleges, as well as individual interviews that may give us insight to the character/intelligence of draft hopefuls, the other facets of the combine are simply not very compelling for me.
I just don't think it gives us much more than we already know. But it does give the talking heads something to talk about.

I agree, there isn't much useful information. People will freak out over some crazy workout numbers and it won't mean much at all. If only we could find a WR who's 6-4.5 who runs a 4.3........

Yup, the NFL combine has become about as unnecessary as the NBA "All-star Game".

It's all for show but hardly entertaining or informative. Most of the higher picks won't be participating so it will be a bunch of mid level picks running around on the field while hoping to get noticed.

At this point, I do value the historicity of the combine's data set. The fact that it's taken place on the same field for 39 years is interesting, I'll give it that. I saw them float the idea of moving the venue like they do the draft and I think it will be the nail in the coffin for it meaning anything at all. It should absolutely stay in Indy so we have some valuable control mechanism to compare current prospects to past ones.

Besides that, yea the drills are more for middling prospects from smaller programs to prove they meet the requisite floor of athleticism in the NFL. A good cone drill or 10 yard split (Some of the better data points imo) could be the difference between some guys getting drafted or not, simply because the rest of the data set (Tape against elite competition) isn't there.
