On to the Giants
Two week away from this season being over. With another terrible team coming to town.

I saw Led Zeppelin perform at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood CA, August 1971. This was before the release of Led Zeppelin IV so no Stairway to Heaven. They did perform an acoustical version of Stairway . . . the crowd boo'd.Dr Death wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 8:07 am Uh oh! The mighty Zeppelin is my all time favorite band. There has never been and never will be another band like them... IMO. The stars aligned when the four of them joined together to form Zeppelin. It is a band that could have never been without any one of them. Few bands, if any have ever matched them, again... IMO.
I understand those of you that don't like the high voice registers of Plant and the like.
In 1974 I saw Black Sabbath and Deep Purple completing the Unholy Trinity of heavy metal.

But being 100% objective for the moment, you would agree that Taylor Swift is the best.Oaktownonly wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 8:59 am Music is a personal thing. Everyone thinks the music they listen to is the best. Doesn't matter because,
If we win these last two games everybody's music will suck.

I always felt that they should have added Judas Priest to make it a foursome.RickRyb wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 9:14 am I saw Led Zeppelin perform at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood CA, August 1971. Wasn't Judas Priest like 10 years later with their sound being shaped by those bands?Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 9:26 am I always felt that they should have added Judas Priest to make it a foursome.

I can & do respect them as musicians just not PlantAttyla wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 6:33 am Page was innovative and had a good sound. Bonham was really good and a talented player. John Paul Jones was also very talented, the only one of the guys who was considered a "session musician." Although Page also did session work he was far more suited to working as a traveling musician. I view Plant's voice like I view Geddy's. It is an acquired taste and I never acquired it. I get that they were a new sound and I also enjoy the instrumental aspect of Zeppelin, but Plant was my weak link for them. Funny thing is, I liked his voice far better as a Honeydripper but found their sound to be boring.
Go figure

I guess when the team's best years were in the 70s and 80s it makes sense that everyone on here is most likely older then 60BoKnows81 wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 9:36 am I feel like I'm in a fcking retirement home in here sometimes

I started to reply in kind but decided to let it go...mainly because music is so subjective depending on each individual's taste/preference. I somehow survived disco and I'm not crazy about rap or hip hop either. But I would never be so myopic as to tell someone that their taste/preference/artist sucks.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 7:12 am Youre mucking with the Z, pal. Nope, I'm from the Woodstock generation. Beatles, Hendrix, Cream, Zeppelin, Heart, Eagles, Doobies, Zappa, et al...most of the modern stuff just doesn't do it for me personally.

My mom really tried to get me into Zeppelin and Floyd, but once I started listening to Tool and AIC I traded in most of those CDs. I can appreciate that era of music though.
