Let us hope Pete isn't playing politics with the roster.

Really curious what went down. It's times like these I wish we had real beat writers.

The first signs of trouble came on Friday, when Pratt did not travel with the Raiders to Indianapolis and was ruled out for the game against the Colts.
When asked about the veteran linebacker after the disastrous 40-6 loss, Carroll was quick to explain his reasoning.
“Just decided to go with the other guys,” Carroll said, according to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Pratt signed with the Raiders back in June after being cut by the Cincinnati Bengals, with the expectation that he would shore up a linebacking corps that had some questions attached. However, Pratt struggled to begin the season against both the run and the pass, leading to what was clearly a demotion that the veteran did not take kindly to.
Pratt now joins Christian Wilkins as defensive starters who have been released since the beginning of training camp, and the fact that this is happening to core players as often as it has is deeply concerning.

Sounds like he got demoted and didn’t handle it well. I have no issues with getting rid of malcontents in a prompt manner.

I'm with you there. We don't know what is going on behind closed doors. It's possible his attitude was a bigger problem than his performance. Pete is known as a players coach so drawing a line in the sand is good--buy in or say bye-bye. It's a solid message for a team in the forming stage.heavyD wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 12:42 pm Sounds like he got demoted and didn’t handle it well. It's also possible he just didn't want to play football for the Raiders any more--it's really hard work!

Problem is, we don't know who the malcontents are, the players or the shithole staff.

I'm in full agreement on principal, but we've also seen this coaching staff bench JPJ when he was clearly the best option at several positions on the OL. Devin White's performance as a starter last week is glaring if that is why we decided to bench Pratt. If I were in his shoes and saw the shenanigans they were pulling with JPJ and they tried benching me for Devin White, I think I'd ask for my release too.heavyD wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 12:42 pm Sounds like he got demoted and didn’t handle it well. Well, he was demoted, and then was not with the team, so we may have an indicator. I don't know, but I also am not going to contrast a player with a "shithole staff" when he was part of Graham's unit and Graham did at least take us from being a truly bad defense to one that is at least respectable. I would contrast a player with a coaching staff and leave it there.BoKnows81 wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 1:11 pm Problem is, we don't know who the malcontents are, the players or the shithole staff.
But that is just me.
