They stay just good enough to appease their fan base, change coaches every 30 years, beat Nebraska, and produce the best tight ends....other than that...not much to like.

I have always been a closet Iowa fan which is weird because I have never been there. Maybe it's the ANF decal on the helmet but I have always taken a casual interest in Iowa football going back to the Hayden Fry days.

I think it started when Iowa played the hated UW Huskies in the Rose Bowl.

The tradition of the players and fans waving (the Hawkeye wave) to the kids in the hospital next to the stadium at the end of the first quarter is really something special
