Might not have been the biggest Carr fan (especially toward the end), but he genuinely loved being a Raiders and I always appreciated that. Whether he gets to retire one on a one day contract or just light the torch, he deserves it.

As for Al, the league desperately needs owners like him today probably more than ever.

I defended Carr until I couldn't anymore. He wasn't the same player after the broken leg. I think he really loved being a Raider, but he went soft.

I wouldn’t let him in the parking lot. Born losers are a pox, and we’ve already got a hard enough time keeping Mork from burying the franchise in the cellar. We had to get the winningest, most successful QB in NFL history to make decisions to even give this franchise a chance to come up for air.

As to another Big Al, we’ll never see another. He was a through and through football man. Owners nowadays are billionaire business men or nepo babies. Not a “maverick” in sight. Any of them that seem even remotely unique, owe their personalities to pharmaceuticals or Johnny Walker.
