As of today, I don't think he enters Canton unless he buys a ticket. He needs at least one DPOY to even enter the HoF convo.

Continue playing at a high level for 5 or 6 more seasons. That may be enough.

Well, let's see....he has 6 years under his belt, so he needs at least 6 more at a high level. A ring certainly would help but barring that at least a few playoff runs is almost a must. Taking out Mahomes would dash any hope since Mahomes is the darling of the league right now.
So yea, at least a 12 year career at a top level with a few deep playoff runs and getting a ring would make him a lock.

In today times; Matt Crosby really just need a few good seasons and he in the HOF….we now get to see so much of players playing today compared to say 30 years ago where we did not get to see as much…
This is an example: I bet on YouTube you could find a video that has every Matt Crosby sacks that he has in the NFL….
An take a guy like Greg Townsend who has a lot of sacks with the raiders but I bet you would have a very hard time finding one video of him making a sack…Townsend was a really good player but he did not have media behind him like Crosby does

Definitely doesnt need a ring as a defensive player in the NFL. He needs longevity and health. If he stays healthy and produces 5 or 6 more seasons he probably gets in.

I dont think hes a Hall of Fame Edge. He doesnt have the power to take over a game with brute strength. Hes a finesse player, not a game wrecker. TJ Watt, Myles Garrett, Nick Bosa, even Khalil Mack, are game wreckers when they are at their best. No one can defend against them when they decide to not be denied. Crosby cant do what they can do, and they dont need to do what he does because they are strong.

No DPOY, no first team all-pro, no ring or playoff success. He’s on the outside looking in right now and will need a number of years of elite play to get consideration.

He needs to have one season at DPOY level, and/or two seasons where he is 1st team All Pro. It would also help to rack in a few more 2nd team All Pro honors.
If he ended up with one 1st Team All Pro + DPOY and say four 2nd Team All Pro’s to back it up, I think he’d be pretty close to HoF level at that point. A player needs to be one of the best at their position, top 3, for at least 4-5 seasons to be even considered.
Putting an arbitrary number on it, Maxx is like 30-40% of the way there — he’s been a borderline top 3 type edge defender for at least 2-3 seasons. He would help his case A LOT by definitively being the best edge defender for at least one year
A ring, or conference championship, or something like that, would help him a lot too. But I think he’d have a real shot if he won a few 1st teams and would have an even stronger case if he won a DPOY on top of that, even if he doesn’t achieve a deep playoff run
EDIT: I should say that I think above is kinda the baseline to start the conversation— even then he would be a far from a lock. To get to “lock status”, that’s where playoff success and/or more significant accolades would come into play
