It's one way he has of getting in-demand assistants: They know if they get a coordinator offer down the line, he won't prevent them from leaving.

We blocked Leonard from leaving this offseason, but if he's offered a DC position with another team in a year, it'll be Next Assistant Up (unle$$ we convince him to $tay u$ing other mean$).

Graham continues to learn under Pete Carroll and is elevated to HC in or within 3-4 years (if not poached before then). Leonard becomes DT when Graham is either elevated or leaves.
