OC/DC/ST Coordinators (Chip Kelly OC, Patrick Graham DC)

Do we need an OC/DC thread or do we just keep that talk in the Pete Carrol thread?

If we don't please delete this.

Maybe change it to a Staff thread?

I think Rob Leonard stays, Edgar Bennett might stay, Luke Steckel (because of his awesome work with Bowers, and to a lesser extent, Mayer) might stay, and maybe one or two of the really low-level guys.

Everyone else can be excused.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Darrell Bevell as OC, or maybe as Senior Offensive Assistant to a younger OC.

I think both of Carroll's kids currently coaching are in play: Brennan has spent the last five seasons as a college OC/O-Line Coach, and Nate Carroll is a Passing Game Coordinator for the Panthers.

I could see KNJ returning in a senior defensive slot, maybe even as DC (remember that the defense will be Carroll's, not KNJ's).

Having your children on your team or on your coaching staff can easily cloud your judgement and cause you to make decisions you normally wouldn’t. If one of them underperforms it can become toxic fast.

The Athletic just ran a piece about Carroll's potential staff. I can't link it here because it's paywalled, but Tashan Reed mentioned possibly Bevell or Shane Waldron or Brian Schottenheimer for OC (if the younger Schottenheimer doesn't get the Cowboys HC gig), and either Kris Richard or Gus Bradley for DC.

Carroll has had pretty good defenses regardless his DC so im not worried as much who that is.

His offensive Coordinator pick has to be a home run as well as figuring out his QB situation.

Bobby Slowik was just fired. Goes to show how quickly young offensive savants can go sour. But wonder if we would look at him here.

Great insider info lol

I just hope he doesn't bring back Cable for a 3rd go round as offensive line coach. Of all the problems the Raiders had offensively, the offensive line didn't appear to be one of them. Sure they could use an upgrade at guard. But I really hope they don't torpedo the work with the young lineman and switch back to a system that they could never get working.

I'd be happy with Leonard, or with Graham returning if he doesn't land something else. And obviously Saleh would be a win as well. I kind of like the development possibility of Leonard under Carroll the best.

You know it could be interesting for the Raiders to pitch the idea of Saleh being the next head coach after Carroll's time. His age is going to be a talking point for everybody.

Plus what better way to build up your own resume if you are Saleh. You already made the Niners a great defense which got you the job in New York to begin with. But if you build up the Raiders in a similar fashion, people are going to really take notice.
He worked under Carroll in Seattle as well...
Yep. He was just a quality control guy at the time I think. But the relationship is there regardless.
