That’s an easy list to agree with.
I’d have fun arguing big hits that I personally despised. I’ll start with

Darryl Dragon using his synth to make "muskrat" sounds at the end of the song was almost as bad as you can get.
But I will add one that will not be popular. Kung Fu Fighting is a really bad song that I just cannot stand

Overly preachy and hypocritical. Sure, ok there John: “no possessions” while living in a mansion as a multimillionaire?
Yeah ok
Now of course the next bit will be outrage by aging hippies, “you don’t get the message”, “you must hate John” etc, etc which has been done a million times. For those apt to attack, focus on the contradiction. All that ever gets bandied about it is its “a hopeful vision” or “how things could be.”
Sure.
Still doesn’t erase the facts I mentioned to begin with. I think some of the disconnect is for a lot of us Gen Xers is so tonally off from our outlook as a whole. And again I didn’t say every Gen Xer.
I like Lennon as a songwriter just fine until about 1965, after that less so. His mid 60s to the end of the Beatles is likewise mixed. I can appreciate others will disagree and have no issue with that. Then there is his solo stuff? Mostly meh.
And to further add? Give Peace a Chance is catchy, at least it’s not a bore like Imagine. Instant Karma is likewise good.
Over all of this, as I get older the Beatles don’t hold the interest they used to when I was younger.
As always YMMV.

John was destroyed by the influence of Yoko. How do I know that? He went from a socially conscious songwriter to a guy who was a cause head. He jumped from cause to cause like a frog looking for the best lily pad. For what it is worth, Julian avoided Imagine for decades before recording his version. George to me was the most boring Beatle post being in the band. I never got his music. Ringo was the most fun after the band broke up. I never understood the mid 80's direction Paul visited, his 70's stuff was solid, sometimes great and sometimes mediocre but his 80's stuff was brutal. He finally has found his place, go out and perform your hits, and enjoy the legacy.

Agree. Its really just virtue signaling. He knows it will never happen, so there's no cost to taking the position. He knows his wealth is safe. It's how you can eat your cake and have it too.
