Raiders tender two RFAs - Meredith and Booker

Each tender is for about $3.6 million for one year and unguaranteed. Any team can offer them a contract and the Raiders have the right to match it. If Booker moves on to another team under that mechanism then the Raiders get a 5th back because that was his original draft round.

Neither player is great, but Meredith is versatile and a decent backup. Booker was a decent rotation guy last year - IMO he fits better in a 4-3 than 3-4 but I think that distinction is sometimes overrated as we won't be in base defense all that much. The key is that we have the ability to bring them to camp and see what they offer and there's no guaranteed money so if they don't work with the new system and staff then we can cut them anytime with no cost.

Meredith was a good player until we moved him to center last year. What a blunder that turned out to be.

Brennan Carroll had big plans for this year if he wasnt fired, he was moving Kolton Miller to center and trying Meredith out at LT.

Agreed, do we even have a DT that is better than him besides possibly Butler? I thought we would have re-signed him for around $6M, but what the hell do I know.

Do The Raiders have a rostered player that can move into the NT position?

Butler played NT in a 3-4 for the Patiots, but isn't the prototype. Pegues is a NT. Both guys can be used there but we'll need more. It's really hard to fill the position with a beast, but finding a solid guy isn't that hard - there will be guys available in the draft and there will be vets available on the street or in trade.

Meredith played some decent LG in his first year.

Yea the thought crossed my mind. With Maxx back, our ability to address LG is somewhat limited. Could see Meredith competing and winning the job against any possible LG we could get in the 2nd or 3rd round
