The Raiders are unlikely to have a QB coach in 2026.
The Raiders officially announced their coaching staff for the 2026 season on Monday, with the QB coach being noticeably absent from the roster. Raiders beat writer Vincent Bonsignore writes that the team had QB coach candidates in mind, but that “it just didn’t work out.” He than adds that the team will likely wait until next season and reconsider hiring somebody to fill the position. On one hand, the jokes write themselves, especially with the Raiders holding the No. 1 overall pick, which is expected to be used on Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza. On the other hand, the Raiders’ coaching staff is chock-full of of coaches with experience at coaching the position, including HC Klint Kubiak, OC Andrew Janocko, and assistant HC Mike McCoy. There’s also some guy named Tom Brady in the building who will likely lend a helping hand or two when needed.

On one hand, the jokes write themselves - This joke becomes fact if they use the card again describing acquiring Oline talent this off season.
But yeah we do have people that can and will coach the QB. It's probably good knowing they know what they want.

The Raiders deserve every stab and jab against them until they don't.

Im guessing Janocko will be the OC/QB coach. He was the QB coach in Seattle.

The lack of someone having the title of QB coach is not an issue - especially given the number of guys on staff who've coached QBs before. It's better to have nobody with that title and then just have the best people on staff coaching the QB than to hire someone just so you have a guy with a title. The titles themselves are a bit overrated anyway - the lines are generally a lot more blurry than titles would suggest.

This doesn’t bother me in the least. Like has already been mentioned, we’re rich with personnel who can fill the role. And I appreciate there’s a bar set. The remaining “QB Coaches” not on staff were found lacking, so no hire. Coach K and Spy looked at what’s available and deemed it “subtraction by addition”. Can’t be angry with that.

Brady isn't a coach per se but is an excellent resource. And, as you said there are a number of assistants on the staff that have worked with QB's.
Not a fan of titles either.

New hire Holz is another option

Well i'd like to have a QB caoch and an assistant. This way if Janocko gets plucked we have someone ready in house to move up in the ranks to replace him. Someone who knows Kubiak, his system, and the players.

This could be nothing. OTOH, this is the Raiders we're talking about here. Players and coaches seem to lose at least 25% of their IQ the second the ink dries on their contracts.

With what McCoy did for Cam Ward, I am not worried. Ward is not great but McCoy made him better when he took over. If he can do that for Cam, I think Mendoza will be fine. Far more important to get the backup QB signing right so Mendoza has a good player in his ear all the time.

Kubiak will be the play caller and Janocko will work with the QBs. That pairing where they've worked together for what will be their 5th season together, Janocko will know what Kubiak wants and how to coach them up. Not a major hole given Kubiak.

Just because nobody has the title of QB coach, that doesn't mean that someone isn't working with the QB. I wouldn't get too worked up over titles. Holz and McQueen have coached QBs before. If Kubiak doesn't name a QB coach then he can wait and see which of the guys on staff might be best to develop in that area as a coach - because he hasn't worked with these guys before. If you hire a guy as a QB coach, you might fence yourself in a bit more and regret it later.

If we had a QB coach, he would turn into some teams OC in a couple few years (If Mendo is as adrertised). This is just 4D chess being played from our front office!
