Yep, age has crept in and it is time to get my hearing fixed. Been to the audiologist and confirmed the need. The doctor has recommended the over the ear/wire route and now I am navigating the state vocational program to get them covered. I am not being cheap, because my insurance is damn good so I think the program might only need to cover the copay. But is the state wants to cover the entire amount, I am eligible for up to 8300 bucks worth of coverage.

That all said, any of you guys wear them? I know the technology is vastly improved with the systems wiring into your phone directly and even a lot of other devices. Any info is welcome

There are some cheaper alternatives for like $700 a pair. Test drive them, and if you end up not liking them then move up to the higher end expensive ones.

My oldest son wears expensive over the ear ones since he was little. I laid out thousands when he was growing up.

The thing is, if I get that vocational grant they cover some really nice one's and the doctor office thinks I will qualify. Apparently in TN this grant gets very little attention so they always have a surplus of cash. It is not income based but rather need based so I am golden. The place uses Phontak which have great reviews and they service them for life for free. Thanks for the link though.

I don’t wear them yet. My biggest issue is tinnitus not actual hearing loss. Having said that I have friends who use them. One common denominator I have heard over and over ( no pun intended) is you get what you pay for. The good ones come at a high price.

Sucks.

Don't f[raiders_icon]ck yourself over buy buying shit on amazon or any other cat rate place.

Go to your ENT and have them fit you with the correct pair for your need.

Yes, it will cost more...but you won't have the same issues all the others complain about.

If you can afford a trip over seas.....you can afford a quality of life hearing aid.

If you need to borrow some cash....

help yourself to some of my RS $$$$$$$

I got plenty.

I should wear them; I don't. I hate anything "extra" on/in my person. I don't wear a watch, a ring, a necklace, a bracelet or any orther thing on my body. I wear one contact in my left eye.... for 30 years. Other than that...... nope.

I have very bad tinitus (ringing in the ears) from a lifetime of working in cabinet shops........ table saws, routers, Planers, jointers... noise all day long.

I''ll be the same going out as I came in...cept for a few scars and wrinkles.

I hate the idea of forking out a ton of money for something that may not be all that much better for something I can get at a quarter of the cost. Anyway, let me know how it goes I'm still not wanting to wear something over my ears. I found this company while researching and the owner who has worn pretty much ever pair out there highly recommends the Siennheiser.

I will keep you in the loop. My next part of the process is today when I interview with the TN vocational panel to see if I qualify for a grant from the state. It is not income based so I may well get the grant.

I have never associated hearing aids for tinnitus. Ive had tinnitus for years. Let us know how your research goes.

I also have tinnitus... years of working in cabinet shops. What would hearing aids do for tinnitus?
