I think the frustration of losing is really starting to boil over on this forum. We have kind of divided into two factions. One is trying to maintain some semblance of optimism while the other believes 2025 is a lost cause.

I am not sure either point of view necessarily wrong just yet.

To lighten things up answer two questions on this thread if you care to:

1-Why did you choose the screen name that you did?

2-What is a funny Raider moment or yarn off of the field.

I'll go first. Elvis "Toast" Patterson and his horse collar used to crack me up. He always looked like a nut case on the sidelines chewing on his mouth piece. Buffalo's Steve Tasker seemed to always get recognized as the AFC's premier special teams players but Toast was pretty darn good as well and if I remember correctly he did make a Pro Bowl as a Raider. One of my favorite players from my youth.

The Raiders were playing at Mile High Stadium during the 1985 season. Dokie Williams was going up for a pass and was blatantly hit before the ball got there. It was an obvious interference penalty that wasn't called.

George Anderson yelled at the ref calling him a blind little cocksucker. The ref turned back to the Raiders bench and asked who made the comment. No one responded to which the ref replied that if whoever said it were a man he would fess up. Finally George Anderson fessed up and immediately the ref flagged the Raiders bench for a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty. Once the ref was out of earshot George Anderson lamented how stupid he was, he never should have called the ref little.

The Raiders ended up winning the game and apparently even Al managed to smile after George recounted in the locker room how the ref baited him into confessing.

My screen name is an homage to Stevie Ray Vaughn (born '54, died '90).

When I was coaching travel softball, we went down to SoCal for a tournament and Charlie Smith was our ump. Never played another tournament where we stayed at the same field and had the same ump all day Saturday and Sunday, but that was the case for this one. So, I got to spend a fair amount of time with him and hear a bunch of stories from the glory years. Great guy, and a very good ump, too.

If we keep losing or winning we will all come together.

My screen name was given me by the guy who got me into the Raiders in the first place. I was a real bulldog type in sports and he thought I reminded him of Kinlaw.

Not really a story but a nice memory, I was house sitting for my parents when the 1984 Super Bowl was on and I got to host the party and watch the Raiders demolish the Redskins. Good times.

Maybe we could add why we chose our avatars. Mines obvious.

2025 is a lost cause. That does not mean I am not optimistic. But it really is a lost cause

as for the screen name, it speaks for itself, an alternate spelling but you get the idea.

As for off the field? My tailgate made the Raider Report here once and I was even interviewed. That one saw maybe 200 fans drop in at times. We had two kegs for that one. I think that was the burgers and BBQ one.

I will say this, Attyla hosts a mean taigate.

If by miracle we beat KC this week and Denver and the Chargers lost we would be tied with KC and one game out of first...

it has been a while and it may have changed, but surprisingly Walmart had the best frozen burgers for a tailgate. Meat and fat combination is perfect for really flavorful patties. It is just a matter at that point of adding salt and pepper during the cook. Those were some good burgers over the flames.

Did you know when James Garner was on the sidelines in Oakland, he would fly up to Oakland from LA with the team orthopedic surgeon. I got that info from Al Accosta? Spelling might be wrong.

Attila is the usual spelling but Attyla is an alternative. It is just not common

Signed up late so Deathstar came form the nickname of the stadium. 24 being Woodson was my guy when he played.

I was out at a bar watching Raiders/Broncos and Jacoby Ford ripped off a long TD run on a reverse. The whole bar was screaming and I thought to myself "man their are a lot of Raider fans here" only to realize that at the exact moment he scored coincided with DeSean Jackson's miracle at the Meadowlands punt return TD as time expired. Should have known better.

Born and raised initially in SoCal. Dad was a Rams, Lakers and Dodgers fan. Early/mid 1970’s we moved up to the Bay Area and the Raiders adopted me. The mystique and the die hard fan base drew me in. When signing up on the old forum, for lack of anything g clever to call myself, I typed in Xramfan and it just stuck.

One day while playing basketball with friends at a local junior high school playground, a guy walked up and asked if he could join us. Sure thing. Who could say no to Ted Hendricks? Nice guy.

When signing up on the old forum, at that time I had just attended a Ted Nugent concert and read his book. Met and talked with him at an NRA convention in Reno. Found the photo and it’s been up since.

I’m not down on the Raiders yet. Knew it was going to be a rough start. Just hoping that by the end of the season there is some glimmer of hope going into the offseason.
