So not only is he not out C. He’s fighting more minutes with Alex.

Is there some reporter with the story here? Is JPJ lazy? Arrogant?
It is bizarre he goes from beloved pick to fighting for minutes with a bum.

Johnson is coming off a concussion and had not done anything football related for two weeks. He is not competing because of anything else but the fact that he had to get back into football shape. He had not hit or anything for a while so this sound precautionary more than anything else.

I don’t know Attyla. It’s beginning to stink of “doghouse”. In the preseason he wasn’t at Center because he was having trouble with the calls/playbook. Since then it’s been injury/concussion/competition.

I’ll take Meredith is smarter, but no to Cappa being a better Guard. That’s a bridge too far.

concussions are tricky. That said, he did not play or practice for two weeks, which tells me the concussion was a decent level of concussion. Taking their time with a concussion is pretty standard these days since the documentation needs to be there to protect teams from legal issues. The CTE thing is one very big sink hole for teams that are not processing those injuries with kid gloves.

But, and I do get your point, saying they are competing merely suggests to me that the two guys are on point to play. Who starts really depends on Johnson's response to practice in my opinion. Not Cappa's skill set. I would say it is Johnson's job to lose, not the other way around and that depends on how well he practices

Pretty sure Johnson had concussion issues in college too. So maybe this latest concussion is a bigger deal than just what is happening now.

He's a decent player, and hopefully will turn out to be very good, but he's starting to approach Carrstan levels of perceived accomplishments and excuses.

This is two concussions in a little over a season. Seems I read he had a few in college as well. If true, he won’t be playing long in the NFL. He’s at a position where helmets collide almost every play. I worry about his long term health.
