He wasn't great, he was just violent. That used to be valued, and a lot of Raider fans loved it, I guess I did too once. Different time now.

Totally agree. Football is a violent game (even more so in the 1970s) and Tatum was the most dominant safety of his era. Receivers just didn't go over the middle against the Raiders. If they did, they got the Sammy White SuperBowl treatment. His legacy was ruined by the Stingley injury.

I'd add Lester & Christensen also.

Jack Tatum Safety: Someday enough people are going to forgive him for being ferocious. Someday they are going to admit it was a good hit that went wrong. Someday, unfortunately, it is not going to be enough. Too many people were turned off by his book tours and his self promotion. He was his own worst enemy in that regard

Probably not a popular opinion but most of those guys don't belong on the HoF that includes Plunkett

HOF is already watered down with good players no reason Hayes, Chrstensen and Plunkett can't get in.

IMO Hayes should absolutely be in the HOF and should have been in a long time ago. I can see the arguments against the rest of them. Love Plunkett, but he was meh or worse for too much of his career as a regular season QB. I don't pay much attention to Craig's worthiness because he was really just a Niner and not a Raider.

Todd Christensen had a stretch of football where he was clearly the best TE in football. I am not sure why a five time All Pro election is not in the HOF.

Jim Plunkett? As I get older I can appreciate the argument in favor of his selection more and more. In some cases statistics alone do not tell the entire story. He had a better NFL career than Joe Namath did and I absolutely believe Namath belongs in the HOF based on his work in the AFL and how it changed the passing game.

Al Gamini might have started drinking a little early for the weekend, but he states only a handful of players with 5 or more All Pro Selections are not in the HOF and around 43 players that have 5 or more are in. There are ~375 in the Hall so ~325 don't even have 5 or more All Pro's. But I noticed he was slurring quite a bit.

I also think Millen should be in, though I don't think I get a lot of support on that one, and I don't think it will happen. He won titles on three teams and was a leader on all of them and the guy just screams football. The punch alone is worth the price of admission.

Matt Millen doesn't get near the recognition he deserves but he was perfect for our defense. In some ways the Raiders version of Mike Singletary.

He may never get into the HOF but he is in mine.

This X 1000. Probably my all time favorite Raider. Also noted how he overcame his struggle with studdering and later in life past on the information to help others.
