Jakobi Meyers & Raiders Talking New Deal

Starts at 2:15.
While Meyers may not be a player who goes for 1500 yards, he is a hell of receiver. Does all the little things, reliable hands and overall a player we should keep. Hope this gets done.

Agreed. One of those guys that keeps his head down and makes the team better. And, I appreciate his blocking efforts.

I'll probably be the outlier here, but receivers league wide are horrendously overpaid for their production. Based on age and production, Jakobi should see a similar contract to what Courtland Sutton just received, which is averaging $23 mill a year. I really do like Jakobi but I don't think now is the time to be signing receivers long term. Jakobi isn't worth 23 mill to this team. The numbers are wild, and if you're not a top 10 guy I think your production can be replaced. If he takes a sweetheart deal then I'll be his biggest fan, but I think we can live without him.

I believe it's balanced by the investment in the young guys. You've got Bech, Thornton, Tucker, Bowers and Mayer as receiving options that are all on rookie deals. I hear what you're saying, but having a solid and dependable veteran presence included in that dynamic doesn't seem too outlandish.

I get that. Ultimately keeping Jakobi will be a good thing, because he's a good locker room guy.
I just think that league wide the WR contracts don't match the value. 20+ mill for a guy who has a single 1K season is a lot. It's more a timing thing, I'd be comfortable signing Jakobi next offseason after we see how some of these 2nd tier contracts play out, which we have the ability to do.

Im thinking 3/60 with a TO on year 3. That’s a 9 mil per raise, almost 50%.

I like Jakobi. Dependable hands, works hard and doesn't complain. Don't break the bank but sign him.

Signing Jakobi may be an important look for Bech and Thornton to see that The Raiders take care of their own.

I'm gonna be consistent and say no, because Terry wants to get paid and like I said, it's not a good WR market right now.

Yeah McLaurin is looking to break the bank so I would be a hard pass as well. As for Meyers, it will all depend on the numbers. As much as I like him he shouldn’t be paid with the top WR1 types.

I like what we have. Keep Meyers. We have Tucker and Thornton for explosion. Meyers is a solid, reliable lunch pail type. He’s a good veteran and a likely a great presence in the receiver room.
We have to stop trading away picks and hopefully our new regime sees that and builds through the draft.

jm is top of the food chain for a #2, not tee higgins, but an uber-reliable 2nd option. yes, he should be paid - not #1 money, but he's done his job, with crap qb play.

It needs to get done.....He is an important cog in the machine......
Saw this and I agree with the numbers....
Spotrac currently has his market value at $17.4 million per year, which means a deal would likely be three years and somewhere in the $51-57 million range. That would be around what players like Deebo Samuel and Jerry Jeudy make, and just a tier below guys like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
