Anything resembling a definitive word on Miller? Jesus Christ, imaging how horrific that line would be without HIM. That guy is one of the few first-rounders Gruden and Mayock got right.

The QB situation is, of course, unsolvable. We'll just have to wait until we blunder into our own 6th round Tom Brady or put together a D so elite that we can win with Trent Dilfer level talent.

And lol Mark Davis. I'm starting to think that turning the world over to smooth-brained billionaire nepo babies might not have been the best of ideas.

Well, look on the bright side.

At least Vegas got what they wanted. The visiting fans flock to the casinos, they empty their pockets, but then go home with a win to make them feel better in an attempt to get them to come back again. That's all we have become for the NFL and Vegas.

Oh! I remember that game vividly. Marcus Allen fumbled in FG range and Andre Waters took the fumble back to around the two yard line. Randall Cunningham QB sneaked it in and the downward spiral started.

I remember it too. Listening to the game on the radio hoping it was a fluke and the play would be called back.

Here is a sobering thought as the slide to oblivion continues:
1960–1985 → 19/26 seasons winning (~73%).
1986–2025 → 9/40 seasons winning (~22%).

I stand by my contention that in the case of the Raiders we can pinpoint the exact date it all started to unravel, slowly at first. We didn't know it at the time but 11-30-86 vs the Eagles losing 33 to 27 marked the end of the glory years.

The 86 season was definitely the begin of the great decline for us. I was there to witness the horrible Eagles loss. I couldn't believe what I was seeing- Andre Dirty Waters streaking down the sideline after Marcus Allen's fumble when we were in position to win the game. If I remember correctly, the Raiders had not lost 3 straight games in a row in the Al Davis era before that horrid 86 season. I believe the Raiders lost 3 in a row on three separate occasions during the 86 season including 4 losses in a row to end the season. The final loss was to the Colts at the Coliseum. I think at that point the Colts only had a couple of wins, and their QB was Rusty Hilger, if I remember right. That was such ruinous season, ushering in the dark ages.

Yeah, I remember that game vividly. Couple that with the strike the following year (which I believe closed the window on the 1980's run). But it was a culmination of things during the next eight seasons.

Marcus Allen situation.
Schroeder trade.
Al vacillating on the Shanahan hire.
Bo Jackson's injury.
Ron Wolf's departure.
Leaving Los Angeles
Institution of the salary cap.

But yes, it all started with that loss against Philly. I guess we could call it the curse of Andre Waters.
