The Offensive Line Coach Thread
As we just saw with the departure of Brennan Caroll under the latest Raiders regime- Offensive Line coach is critical. So much so, I’d argue after the OC (or in our case HC/OC combo) it’s the most crucial position coach on the offensive staff. (Maybe QB Coach too)
We can’t get Bill Callahan and Dante Scarneccia (formerly of NE) is retired. Who else is out there? Quick aside- Dante pieced together offensive lines in NE with spit, glue, rubber bands and duct tape and they won Super Bowls.
I’m also off the mindset this hire might matter even more than DC. We’ve got a lot of pieces for the offensive line that I believe were simply used or not instructed on why they wanted them to do last year.
We’re not talking best line ever in the history of the game, but I think we can take a huge step forward from what we saw last year with the right coach.

Is our o-line built for the outside zone scheme or do we need to make changes?

But this is a forum where I can spout my ridiculous and unsupportable opinions as if I have a clue what I'm talking about. What I doo know, as a certainty, is that this team has stunk for a very long time. whatever they do with the Oline has to be better than we've seen recently. Hard to imagine it getting worse.Coach dd 11 wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 11:02 pm Again, I'm not arguing one way or the other but you guys are like me, we are fans and NOT THE COACHES! You have no f[raiders_icon]cking clue, nor do I about what the FO or the new staff thinks or believes in JPJ. The only thing we truly know is under PC they used him as a OG and the FO refused to trade him. The why's are pretty important and are important decisions moving forward. That is all i'm saying!

It's possible that just 2/5 are replaced. There's a good chance that Miller, JPJ, and Rogers are all starters next year. Plus an outside chance that Grant is a starter. The cupboard isn't completely bare but we absolutely need to treat the offseason like we need to add 3-4 starters and then let the chips fall where they may in a competitive situation.KillerRaider30 wrote: Sun Feb 22, 2026 8:36 pm 3/5 maybe 4/5 will be replaced. Grant & Rogers are ideal fits for Kubiaks scheme. Rogers played 4 of 5 oline positions at Tech, that shows he's smart and learns quickly. His movement skills are excellent. Charles Grant has immaculate movement skills & length for a tackle. Top 10% type traits. I saw a breakdown video of his snaps & it shows he has excellent vision for stunts, who to block on wide 9's and odd front situations. His hand work is great. Grant IMO could be an absolute stud. It's the eye test, when both got chances to play.. the line looked like it was much more settled. That speaks volumes.

Well, we just consider the source on that. I mean, you are internationally known for your riveting opinions that almost always come out correct. Aren't you going to be featured on ESPN's Draft coverage?KillerRaider30 wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 4:05 pm It doesn't matter because imo 3/5 maybe 4/5 will be replaced. I built my view in that we have very good play makers who can perform at a high level now.
Our offensive line is the question mark built with
-Meredith, an undrafted fa.
-Putnam,and undrafted fa.
-Rogers/Grant 3rd round.
-JPJ 2nd round and injury prone.
-Glaze 3rd round.
-Parham. A 3rd rounder who has hit his ceiling.
-Cappa, who when signed ranked as one of the worst in the league.
And 1st round pick Miller who's proven to be a steady high value LT.
Mafi?
Wagner? Practice squad his entire career.
I feel the Raiders desperately need an influx of proven starters along the oline at this stage in the build and shouldn't wait 2 years to develop.
What's your take? Id love to hear it.
Posters saying the oline coach stinks is just an opinion also.
Regardless, what do think the Raiders will do with the offensive line?

Nice post. I'm a fair bit more optimistic with some of these guys than you, but I think you highlight how much the line has been neglected from a talent acquisition stand point. We clearly need to add several bodies, and many of these guys will end up as backups or playing elsewhere.

Im with you no doubt. They cant wait any longer to see who develops and who doesn't along the oline.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Feb 24, 2026 5:19 am Nice post. Our last fa signing of any worth was incognito in 2019, 7 years ago, no?
They've drafted and developed or signed no one thats more than a below average to average starter to date.
Who was the last RT worth a shit. Menelik Watson? Leatherwood? Lol
Can they fix RT for any continues years?
Or center. Centers been a disaster for 5 friggin years.

What are we even arguing about here? I mean would anyone really be surprised or unhappy if 3 to 4 players were replaced on the O line? I know i wouldnt. I am hoping for a complete overhaul where Klint gets to handpick his own guys, whether in FA or the draft. If Rogers and Grant or even Glaze and JPJ are not in his plans, so be it. I have zero faith that the regime that picked Rogers and Grant had a clue what they were doing.

I think Miller and Rogers and JPJ are more likely than not to start in 2026, even if we add competition. We absolutely need to add true competition. If we end up with too many good players, then trade someone before the season starts - that's a good problem to have.
Miller is just a good player and he's the anchor - although Grant showed promise and might challenge at LT (or RT). JPJ was settling in very well at guard before getting injured again and should win a guard spot - we definitely need depth with his injury concerns though. Rogers showed us a lot of good reps and should become more consistent with more time on task. RT and center are both spots that I would hope we fill with someone from FA. Then you draft opportunistically, instead of based on need. Of course we'll want to draft 2-3 olinemen, but that's just standard IMO.
