I was 15 then. Didn’t know i witnessed the end that day.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 5:19 pm Hot damn! That’s some phenomenal recall gentlemen. I’m just happy I could remember where I put my glasses so I could read it.
Its certainly odd. The shadow of the Old Man and his reluctance to draft QBs is a thing. Or at least not draft the same one over and over again in terms of type only for them to bust.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 5:30 pm I agree 100%. Unreal that this franchise is still too scared to draft a 1st rounder since ‘07. It’s almost like Big Al made that his final dying wish to Turnip. The time to move this franchise into the modern age with a billionaire owner or billionaire conglomerate is long overdue.
Different decade, same team.
Jeanty f[raiders_icon]cking rocks. Fingers-crossed we one day have a professional-grade oline to let him run behind. Maybe even a QB who can at least threaten the defense enough to think there’s a pass coming.RaiderandBulldog wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 5:52 pm I had to step away from the bullshit we saw for a couple hours and I think this is a breaking point for a lot of Raiders fans.
1 Vegas will NEVER be a home field advantage for the Raiders. The Bears are just a s bad as us and their fans still took over the joint. That blocked FG at the end sounded louder than anything we heard in years.
2 How many 3 INTs games Is Geno going to have this year? It’s too so far and you know there will be more. Since the Seaosn is in effect over. Why not start someone else?
3 The play calling was bullshit
4 Jeanty showed what he can do today.
5 Maxx deserves better and should be treated at this point.
Yeah, I remember that game vividly. Couple that with the strike the following year (which I believe closed the window on the 1980's run). But it was a culmination of things during the next eight seasons.Willmark wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 5:08 pm Here is a sobering thought as the slide to oblivion continues:
1960–1985 → 19/26 seasons winning (~73%).
1986–2025 → 9/40 seasons winning (~22%).
I stand by my contention that in the case of the Raiders we can pinpoint the exact date it all started to unravel, slowly at first. We didn't know it at the time but 11-30-86 vs the Eagles losing 33 to 27 marked the end of the glory years.
He doesn’t score if he does catch it. Geno hits him in stride, it’s an easy tee dee, imo.HesterLayes wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 6:32 pm i know it's a bunch of things, but Thornton has to catch that.game over.
It was also the starting point for the Old Man and his grudge against Marcus.ToastPatterson wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 6:15 pm Yeah, I remember that game vividly. Marcus Allen situation.
Schroeder trade.
Al vacillating on the Shanahan hire.
Bo Jackson's injury.
Ron Wolf's departure.
Leaving Los Angeles
Institution of the salary cap.
But yes, it all started with that loss against Philly. I guess we could call it the curse of Andre Waters.

maybe..but even if he doesn't..it's a first and they eat up clock and i feel they would have gotten in.have to rewatch itOaktown Superman wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 6:34 pm He doesn’t score if he does catch it. Geno hits him in stride, it’s an easy tee dee, imo.
It was third and goal, iirc. It would’ve been fourth down. Or I think it was third and goal.HesterLayes wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 6:44 pm maybe..but even if he doesn't..it's a first and they eat up clock and i feel they would have gotten in.have to rewatch it

Yes, that and the strike. Marcus told Al he would cross the picket line and then decided not to.Willmark wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 6:38 pm It was also the starting point for the Old Man and his grudge against Marcus.
