Joe Burrow Unhappy in Cincinnati- teams reaching out

Unread post by RaiderFan1 »

Adam Schefter: " the most intriguing comments I've heard from anybody was from Joe Burrow on Wednesday, saying in Cincinati its no longer fun and his future there is questionable. I can tell you this, the other teams in the league took notice of this, and I know this because I was texting with those teams. Andrew luck when he retired played 86 games and had been sacked 174 times, Burrow 73 games and sacked 203 times, and Burrow sounds like a guy that is deeply reflective, contemplative and thoughtful about how he wants his future to proceed.. those were alarming words. that got the attention of a lot of people"

Some speculation but definitely unhappy. I Doubt Cinci would make it easy to leave but QB's have forced trades

Gruden wanting Gannon over George could well have backfired and resulted in his termination. Let's be honest, Davis had a very short fuse for error. Gruden took a big chance and it paid off. The only way in which is was low risk was cost, but it was high risk for job stability for a young head coach who had gone 8-8.
As so far as Gruden was concerned, absolutely. Despite the fact Gannon had a great 1999 season the Chiefs win probably saved both Gruden and Gannon's careers, at least with the Raiders. Given Al's state of mind at the time I credit Gruden for betting on himself and Gannon.

Jon was on very thin ice in 1999. Had it not worked out Al would have hired Al Saunders or someone like that and signed Randall Cunningham, lol.

We failed miserably with the likes of Jeff George, Matt Schuab, Errol Flynn, Aaron Brooks and the other clowns I am missing, Geno...
Errol Flynn? We might have better luck with an actor playing a qb, than having a qb.

lol-I was referring to Matt Flynn, I have never seen a veteran QB released in October six months after we traded for him and it wasn't like we had experienced QB depth when he was cut loose.

Maybe the Raiders can get in touch with Carson Palmer and coax him off his couch again....or better yet get Brady to give up his gig.

I hear signing 40 somethings is in vogue.

I think Burrow has injury problems. He's great, no doubt.... I just don't want him. Feel free to flame me. :smirk:

Burrow is a great QB. Top 5 no doubt.
But we are far worse off than the Bengals at this point.
The last thing we need to do is trade valuable draft picks for a QB that will just get destroyed here.
(To be fair, there's almost a 100% chance Burrow would void a trade to us)
IMO we need to keep our picks, find our QB in the draft, and get the ball rolling.

Burrow has only played a full season 3 times in 6 years. Missing significant time 6-7+ in the other 3. That type of availability isn’t worth the gamble for what it would take to acquire him.

I’d love to have Burrow but no way would ever want to come here.

His time in Cincy is the latest example of how QBs don’t win by themselves. Teams win.

Great QBs can elevate some teams while weaker or mid QBs need to be carried

Burrow is one of the best QBs in the league and Bengals are a mess.

Oaktownonly wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 11:28 am I was ecstatic when we got Gannon. It seemed like every time we played KC we would hurt Grbac and Gannon would come in and beat us. So glad when we got him.
...as I remember, he played the 2nd half of the year after Grbac was hurt, and won all, or all but 1, or something like that and got them to the playoffs, and then Grbac was healthy enough to come back and they lost , I think, in the first round.
...you knew kc was more likely to stick with Grbac at that point, and that the value of Gannpn had gone up enough that he would probably be out of their reach as a back up. Fortunately, and knowing he would be a starter with us, and the situation looked more promising at the time, he came aboard.
....I also thought we could have bagged at least I more trophy had it not been for gruden, whose short passing game, and our ability to run was more than adequate during the regular season, could be stifled against the best defenses later, who had no reason not to have their pretty shrink the field they were defending.

...agree, Burrow is great, and top 5, I'd say, but I know he would not make a lateral move, o line wise, especially. ......and even with a potential new coach and oc, etc., losing all of those picks would keep us from improving what was needed to entice him otherwise. ...if he does go, he'll go to a situation that can work now, and to a team where the picks are more 'expendable'....

What I learned from this thread is that I struggle with seeing Cincinnati spelled wrong ....... so I fixed it. No, I really don't know why I care.

As others have said, the Bengals are a mess. But even if he wants out, why would he consent to move to another and even messier team like the Raiders?...Answer, he won't.
