What are you talking about? We settled for Pete Carroll. Yes. I saw this outcome. So why would I want to keep him? Getting rid of him will help the team. So why would I want to keep him? He somehow made a bad team worse. So why would I want to keep him?

True when your owner is an illogical imbecile you get stuck with this. We are the envy of the league for a HC, brand new facilities, entertainment galore, no income tax, etc. but when your owner is a trust fund baby who never built anything you get bad decisions

Probably just insurance for injury, especially if we move Jacoby this week.

The signing is a cheap deal so it is not eating up cap. It likely comes with very little guaranteed money and almost certainly with a contract we can get out from easily. Lockett is not that far removed from some fairly productive years. There is no vanity here, this is a coach who refuses to quit no matter what. And you know what, his failures aside, that is what you want from a coach. Lockett and Smith had a nice chemistry a few years back. But I do agree with you, it is certainly an attempt to save a lost season.

I know we have a group of guys around here that want us to toss in the towel for a higher draft pick. We get that every year. And why? Because we are losers every year. But I don't want a coach who thinks like a fan. I want a coach who continues to press. I don't buy into your view that there are wins that hold no value. Jobs are on the line with losing. Players and coaches all know that losing results in lost jobs and that is the reality. Careers are short enough without losing your job to losing. You claim to work in sports, if true you should know that. It may very well cost Smith his job. I doubt it costs Carroll, I could be wrong there, but it will likely cost his assistants some jobs if we do not turn it around. Meyers wants out over the mess and a lack of a new deal. He may be the very reason we are bringing in Lockett. Either way, someone is out to get Lockett. He was good once, now he will likely be a role player. Teams need those guys as well. And honestly, if we need another receiver, he was probably the best out there that was cheap and easy to sign.

Not surprised. Tyler Lockett was Geno's security blanket in Seattle. Lockett was the king of bailing Geno out on scramble drills.

Bowers falling to us is a player with generational talent. Will it change our fortunes? Maybe not but he is a Raider as a result of the wins. Again, and again you should know this if what you claim is true about your profession, no one but the fans want losses. The players want jobs as do the coaches. It is a final record driven business.

Poison value. It wasted a year with a worthless showboat in AP. Bowers is awesome. But you know is more awesome? A franchise QB. Bowers, without a franchise QB, is rims on a jalopy, as seen by last year's 4-13 record. Meanwhile, Denver went to the playoffs with Nix. But hey, we beat Denver in the final game of 2023, allowing them to jump us in the draft rankings. Hang the banner!

Most coaches are myopic. It is why good leaders in my profession exist above them in the hierarchy to focus on the big picture. Most of them are not any more insightful than fans. I have worked with plenty that are absolutely clueless but interviewed well or graduated from the school. They just chose to enter the field instead of going into banking or real estate. College athletics is a different beast without drafting, so the whole angle about jobs doesn't relate.
