- 90% of the loss is on Geno

-Geno's arm isn't as strong as everyone thinks it is. His mobility is also not as great as everyone thinks it is.

-Jeanty didn't get the ball enough. When you draft a RB 6th overall, and he's averaging 4 ypc...You keep feeding him the ball, or at least keep him in on PA to make the defense bite

-Laube was exceptional as a 3rd down back going into half time. Why he was benched and not looked into getting the ball more is beyond me

-Defense actually played decent. They're looking better than the offense so far.

Agree on everything but Jeanty. He’s not a game breaker . I don’t think he will be a bust but he was a waste of a pick when the Lines needed obvious help. Spytek came from Tampa where they invested heavily in it. Membou/Darnold & this team looks different.

Could have used more checkdowns. Laube did good things & Chargers were effort theirs all game.

HBs are slot machines, you can’t expect to win it all on a couple pulls of the lever. You gotta feed him carries.

I think he averaged 3.9 on 11 carries. That’s basically where you want your metrics

The chargers killing half the 3rd on one drive and us subsequently spending 11 minutes for 3 points did not help our situation at all.

Didn’t catch the entire game but no one looked good and Geno in particular had a very bad game. Some of that is the Charger Defense is very good.

All that said doesn’t really change my stance all that much:
1. Geno isn’t the long term answer but buys us time until we draft a franchise QB.

2. Pete can’t fix it all in one year. Going to be a lot of ups and downs as a guess.

You’ll have games like this with Smith in general especially behind a bad offensive line. He threw 15 picks last season and is on place to obliterate that mark this season especially given the Raiders offense line looks like the worst in the league. Hopefully Kelly can coach him into throwing less into double coverage.

Our line is bad. I think if our line wasn't so terrible everything else would click.

Defense looked good.

Barring injuries, Chargers will win our division by two games. They are awfully good. Herbert has taken the next step and their defense is legit top five in the league.

This was going to be a tough game no mater what. Geno was bad but the lack of consistent run game usually doesn't pan out well for most QB's in the league. Oline has to get it's shit together quick.
