You could probably sell me on a guy in the JSN/Amon mold but we def don't need that big body WR as that is Brock's role. Not to mention, the Megatron/Andre Johnson type WRs are rare.
Yeah who needs the big, fast, outside guy who can make plays downfield. And yes, if you’re talking the prototypical #1 you’re talking about a big guy with speed who can win contested balls, not a slot guy.

Vrabel was pissed when he was dealt to Philly. At least that’s what I remember from reporting at the time.

Vrabel might have some other issues he needs to worry about now!

Nobody needs the big fast outside guy. The superbowl winners the last 3 years didnt have that guy.

And yes, your "slot guy" can be your #1. As I clearly stated, Amon and JSN are their teams #1. What I said was your #1 does not have to be that big body X. Which is a true statement.

Vrabel was not happy for sure, but the local reporters all said the same thing, he was dealt because of the cap space issues but he was really dealt because he wanted out due to the huge focus on the run game in Vrabel's system.

The only way to make Brown content is if he’s also the Offensive Coordinator.

You’re confusing a team’s top wr with what a true wr1 is considered to be. Every team has a top wr, but not many have that true 1. And you don’t “need” a top QB to win it all either, doesn’t mean you don’t try to get one.

lol, just saw it on a site I was on. Apparently it’s “laughable” to suggest anything untoward was happening. I know my wife wouldn’t be laughing if it was me.

I'm not confusing anything, I think you are. I know exactly what a true WR1 is and they in no way shape or form have to be Calvin Johnson. Are you saying JSN and Amon St Brown are not "true #1 WRs" bc they do not have "prototypical" X WR size? That would be ridiculous. Your big body 'X' WR isn't your default WR1. See Tee Higgins and George Pickens on their current teams.

And there is no comparison between a top WR and top QB.

Brady’s Pats would have never even sniffed a Super Bowl win without his top-notch bonafide stud wide receivers. You know, Hall of Famers like Troy Brown 2001, Deion Branch 2003 & 2004, and Julian Edelman, 2014, 2016, 2018.

So now we are discussing receivers and what constitutes a true #1 in the Crosby thread?

I'm down.

So teams should get the very best they can at every position. You can't actually do that but that is the goal. Get receiver when you can, sure. A true #1 receiver is team defined. Your QB has a canon? Get that speedster with great hands, just don't let him drive 153 miles per hour late late at night down city streets. Your QB can't throw it more than 20 yards? Get that guy who can back shoulder catch and who runs quick short routes. If you get the right guy? That is your #1 receiver. Got the wrong guy? You make due with what you got and whoever shines brightest is your stop gap #1 receiver. If you have that elite athlete and don't have the right QB your receiver is being wasted. And above all else, get the QB thing fixed first if possible so when you shop for the receiver, his talent adds to the mix.

Next up, I am heading over to the draft thread to discuss 2027 free agents who can help us.

Not advocating for AJ Brown, but the root cause of the issues in PHI are because of Hurts, not Brown.

There isn't because great QB's often raise a WR's game. Brady is maybe the best example of this.
