GTC posted a quote from a slightly longer article in which Kubiak mentioned winning/record as a desirable quality, then mentioned the three qualities the coaching staff looks to coach up, so 4 qualities in total.

Love this hire. The scheme is second to none in the ability to run the rock. Only a gimmicky offense like the Ravens with Lamar or an all out triple option can outdo it in that way. In Klints system you get an actual quarterback with ACTUAL QB play rather than the gimmicks of a Lamar or the lack of pass in a option offense. Im about it boys!! f[raiders_icon]ck! This is a good time to be a Raider. I'll allow myself some excitement, but I'll be waiting to see results before I blow my wad.

Pre season week 1 you can see the stamp of Kubiak on the Seahawks. They were running the rock down everyone's ass. The pass concepts that open up off of that & in tandem of balance with it is fantastic. That is why I'm optimistic. Also by all accounts Klint is a blunt honest football junky. He's been learning and expanding his vision of scheme for a very long time. I can roll with that

Based on what we saw from Kubiak in Seattle, I think we need the following skill player fits:

1) rhythm/timing QB — Mendoza
2) punishing two headed monster at RB — we have a strong start there with Jeanty, would love to bring in a Robin for his Batman
3) good TE play — I think we WAY exceed what he had in Seattle with Bowers and Mayer
4) a “make you pay” weapon. Theoretically, Brock could be this, but Brock at his best is more about possession than taking you deep. Don’t get me wrong, Brock can hit a home run, but we don’t have a JSN type who can truly make you pay at any time.

Some have mentioned Pierce to address point 4, and that would be a good get, but I wonder what it would take to get Pickens. He might be a luxury we can’t afford right now, so might just be daydreaming here, but it’s easy to imagine him thriving in the JSN role

I think we need a backup RB. We don't need a two headed monster at RB, we need some depth in case of injury and we need to give Jeanty a heavy load. We could add a pretty low priced FA for that if we want.

Agree, that’s closer to what I’m getting at. Jeanty is our guy, but it would be very nice to have a guy who can reliably spell him. Kubiak loves to run the ball to set up passing concepts from 12 personnel, and while Jeanty will be the star of the show, it would be great to have someone who can bring fresh legs and give Jeanty a breather

You could give Tyler Algeier a few million bucks in FA. Decent runner, but not good enough to command a big contract. Good pass blocker who's going to help keep Mendoza from getting killed on a blitz.

Pickens is a stud but the perennial headache of Maxx drama combined with past Randy Moss/Antonio Brown drama has me questioning all that. Pierce is a hard noser blocker, he's a great deep threat, has very good hands & he's a team player. Jeanty & Bowers will get plenty of focus so having a 40mil #1 receiver may not be needed so much. Pickens is an excellent receiver though. I can see the desire for what he can bring. Not sure it's worth it with the options at hand with the full picture in mind

Our #1 receiving option is going to be Bowers. We can't add a WR who will be a pain in the ass if he's not the #1 option. I have no interest in Pickens. Bowers is "our JSN". I'd certainly be interested in Rashid Shaheed - for less money, less headaches plus value as a returner and Kubiak's familiarity with him. I'm sure the Seahawks will try to re-sign him though.
