I still want the true #1 and hope that the staff can handle any diva tendencies that he may have. There's nothing like that big guy outside that has the wheels to get downfield and can win the contested balls.raidersince63 wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 1:20 pm Oh, I get your point. It's just that like I said earlier, most elite WRs always seem to end up as a pain in the ass or as I said, "attention whores" and they seem to command bigger salaries. I'd prefer 2 solid #2s.

Your #1 doesn't have to be a diva nor do they have to be the typical large body 'X' WR. JSN and Amon St Brown come to mind as of late. They are their respective teams #1s and they are both 6 foot at best nor are they divas.
You could probably sell me on a guy in the JSN/Amon mold but we def don't need that big body WR as that is Brock's role. Not to mention, the Megatron/Andre Johnson type WRs are rare.

Yeah, but the highest rated WRs in the draft may be gone by round 2, so if we decide to go WR with our 2nd pick it'll probably be between Cooper, Boston, Concepcion. I dunno, maybe one of them will still be there in round 3 unless we somehow trade up.Jeevo wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 1:41 pm I still want the true #1 and hope that the staff can handle any diva tendencies that he may have. I'm biased toward Cooper because he's from Indiana and obviously he and Medoza are familiar with each other. Boston is a a big bon of a sitch and a good possibility too.
But if we do draft a WR regardless of which round, we'll just have to hope he develops into a true "#1".

We need WR who can lineup outside the hashes 80+% of the time and consistently win a 1v1 matchup. Can be an X or a flanker like JSNBoKnows81 wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 1:54 pm Your #1 doesn't have to be a diva nor do they have to be the typical large body 'X' WR. Wasn't saying or implying they're all divas because there have been quite a few that were not. It's just that it seems that many of them eventually as I put it "turn into divas" after making a big name for themselves and start making big money. Some of them seem to have the notion that they are the most important position on the field and not the QBs.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 1:54 pm Your #1 doesn't have to be a diva nor do they have to be the typical large body 'X' WR. Most of WRs who were successful have been players that played along side of good QBs that had the ability to actually deliver the ball to them.
Regardless, I don't see a Jerry Rice or Randy Moss in this draft.

Eh. There's maybe 8-10 of those WRs in the league and that's being generous. And how many of those teams also have a superatar TE? I don't think it's a need at all but like you said, we don't see eye to eye on it. Now I will say that if we didnt have Brock, MY personal opinion would completely change. Bc what you just described, we have that in him.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 2:12 pm We need WR who can lineup outside the hashes 80+% of the time and consistently win a 1v1 matchup. See I don't think Bowers is what he is if you play him like a flanker. His value is a TE hybrid. I think we all can agree the WR position NEEDS to improve. #1X, flanker, two #2's, etc. The modern game certainly affords you flexibility in tackling the issue but I will always push back on the notion that a TE can replace the role of a high level WR. And imo most offenses that do well in the playoffs can threaten multiple spots on the field, so you always need at least two high level pass catchersBoKnows81 wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 2:25 pm Eh. Brock is elite wherever he lines up. I absolutely agree that WR is a need in general, but IMO a true WR1 is not.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 2:34 pm See I don't think Bowers is what he is if you play him like a flanker. Brock is an all world athlete and arguably the best player on both sides of the field every Sunday. I don't think him being Elite is in question.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 2:44 pm Brock is elite wherever he lines up. I absolutely agree that WR is a need in general, but IMO a true WR1 is not.
I do think that you're diminishing some of his best traits by playing him on the outside because his best routes aren't ran from there. You do it a few times a game because he's that good but no, he probably doesn't produce the same way lining up there the entire game. You're basically suggesting let me prevent him from doing what he's best at and expecting the same results.
This is why we need a legitimate perimeter threat. Whether you call it WR1, WR2, we need a 'wide receiver' who can be a legitimate compliment to what Brock does best, and chances are that guy will be the best 'wide receiver' on the roster. Some might call that a WR1

I dont want to pollute the Maxx thread but the last thing I'll say, Kubiak favors wide receivers who he can move around to create mismatches and he will help scheme pass-catchers open. That's why I think a true WR1 is less necessary. System matters.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 3:01 pm Brock is an all world athlete and arguably the best player on both sides of the field every Sunday. Oh I’m not thinking we’ll get him in this year’s draft, just wanting one for Mendoza at some point in the not too distant future.raidersince63 wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 2:07 pm Yeah, but the highest rated WRs in the draft may be gone by round 2, so if we decide to go WR with our 2nd pick it'll probably be between Cooper, Boston, Concepcion. This. Rome was not built in a day. We have bigger needs (unfortunately). If we do not take a OL with our 2nd rd pick, I will be pissed. We need to protect our major investments. Our big trio is going to be a blast to watch if we play our cards right.Jeevo wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 3:44 pm Oh I’m not thinking we’ll get him in this year’s draft, just wanting one for Mendoza at some point in the not too distant future.

What I liked about the trade with Philly was the 23 pick. Brown would answer WR! and the 23rd pick and pick #36 could get the OT and DT at the same time.'
Now if Philly would take Maxx and a 4th then the 3rd could get the Raiders that DB we need.

Music to my ears…
Although Davis signed off on the Crosby-Ravens swap, the longtime owner said recently (via Raiders.com’s Paul Gutierrez) he “never wanted Maxx to leave.” That said, when asked if he could envision a scenario in which Crosby is dealt again, Davis said to “ask John [Spytek] and Maxx and Klint [Kubiak].”

Brown has been a malcontent on two teams. I want nothing to do with that guy.Rabidraider wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 4:01 pm What I liked about the trade with Philly was the 23 pick. Brown would answer WR! and the 23rd pick and pick #36 could get the OT and DT at the same time.'
