I think you're exactly right. His whole body is degenerative because of the way he plays. I also believe he'll get more done in pain than other players because he's so focused that he tunes it out more than most. He lives for it, and I think he thrives on overcoming it. Which is also why you're right that he'll end up on a mobility scooter and he'll probably try to take that on a trampoline too.

I think Maxx is playing on his final multi-year contract. He might sign a one year extension if The Raiders (or the team he is on) is in a Super Bowl mode.

NFL on NBC went a little in depth into what degenerative knee injury means. We will have to look for the signs of taking practice days off and only playing on game days types of a situation. Crosby was on the injury list quite a few times the past 2 years, so maybe there is some fire where all that smoke has been.

We absolutely can't talk contract right now - not just because of Maxx's particular situation, but also because of the precedent it sets for other players on the roster now and in the future.

His contract is extremely team friendly, especially after next year. Im sure he will want to rework it next year because that the last year he has any guarantees.

I'm sure he'll want to rework it, but I'm not sure we will want that. He'll be a 30 year old DE with 3 years left on a contract. I'd try to let it ride through 2027.

I've been wanting Maxx to get fewer snaps for years. If he misses a few snaps, it will be like he's shot out of a cannon when he gets back on the field. Plus the RT will be conditioned to having to block Tyree for a couple of snaps, which will make Maxx seem to have even more jump.

With the passrush abilities of Walker and Dean added to the mix...... Leonard has a lot of tools to get creative. I don't think this D is going to look like it did before. They just have more tools to work with in the front 7. I do expect to see Maxx, Koonce etc dropping back on occasion to mix things up.

Could even be the case that this whole thing with the Ravens was a bit of a wake up call for him. Maybe the irony is not lost on him that his health was the cause of both his trade… and his trade falling through.

The Tyree thing is funny though. We could bring Vince Wilfork out of retirement to play edge and the tackle would still probably have to adjust to his speed after a few reps of Tyree.

tyree may have a position to play on this team but we must draft a nt in this draft "tyree, nt, paye"

In blow out games in either direction, when the outcome is already decided he should be on the side line. That's why they take the QB out in blowout wins. Protect your team.

Responding to the general Tyree discussion, I agree that 3-4 end is probably his best fit. I don’t think we’re ever going to get 7th overall value from him, but this is his last chance to prove he can have some kind of impact

IMO, Maxx's next contract won't be with the Raiders.

Edited...sorry for the confusion, I somehow failed to include "Maxx's" name in this original post.

I think, based on your dislike for Crosby, that is more projection than anything.
