Raiders defensive tackle Adam Butler was asked Tuesday about the circumstances that led to Wilkins’ release. Butler was reluctant to offer specifics and said the team was trying to move on from the situation, but offered a rather pointed comment.
“I will say, whatever you’re going through as a person, athlete, non-athlete, whatever your struggle is, if you’ve got something going on in life, just talk to somebody,” Butler said. “Get some therapy. Whatever your deal is is your deal. Somebody out there in this world full of billions of people is willing to listen. They’re willing to listen, hear you out, and help you work through whatever you need to work through. Don’t make any hasty decisions. Get help.”

And I bet the team told him to go the HR route knowing it would give us an out on his contract.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 12:08 pm I was suspicious Butler was part of the incident, this gives smoke to that.- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post (total 3):

Yes, and that is a very smart move by the organization. The Browns tried to help Kellen Winslow II through similar behavior and the end game wasn't pretty. Wilkins can become some other team's problem.

Sadly this will be a closed door hearing and we will never know the entire truth. Nobody predicted this and anyone who says they foresaw the events as they laid out is a liar. First, refusing to get a surgery that the team instructed him to get based on medical advice from team doctors. Second, a HR event that has escalated in the media and now Butler's implication of widespread knowledge of at least one event that has gone public. Nobody gets a victory lap for that, not one.Corleone wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 10:13 pm And I bet the team told him to go the HR route knowing it would give us an out on his contract.
But it sounds like we got a good chance of getting out of this with our money and cap space. I am willing to bet dollars to donuts that everyone is being told to shut their pie holes now so that we remain above the fray.

Don't know where to put this...so I'll dump it here because neither are on the team anymore.....
PS....A big f[raiders_icon]ck you to DA
When Jimmy Garoppolo was benched as the Raiders’ starting quarterback in 2023, the team’s No. 1 receiver, Davante Adams, endorsed the move. Now Adams and Garoppolo are teammates again on the Rams, and Adams says anyone who thinks he has a problem with Garoppolo doesn’t understand what the situation was in Las Vegas two years ago.
Asked on Sedano & Kap how it is playing with Garoppolo again, Adams answered, “It’s amazing.”
Adams went on to say that he and Garoppolo were both frustrated on the Raiders at the time, but there was never any animosity between them.
“I love Jimmy. It was never a personal thing,” Adams said. “It’s been amazing, we’ve gotten to catch up and get on the same page. Obviously that was just a dark moment in all of our lives. I think all of us were pretty miserable over there. We kind of caught up and laughed about it, and we’ve been making plays since we’ve been here.”

Most people knew about his weird behavior on the field but chalked it up to part of his game. The only thing I thought was suspicious was why Miami let a talented d-lineman walk. A guy with that level of play at that position is someone a team will almost always move things around for.
Whatever. He's gone. On to the next.

Agreed, but we’ll miss Old Man Jenkins even moreDrDUne wrote: Mon Jul 28, 2025 8:12 pm Not to play devils advocate, but the atrocious defense last year suggests they could have really benefited from a player like him on the line. I believe the team absolutely missed his production after getting injured, and the team defensive stats back that up.

Does anyone remember this incident from last year? The xtweeter suggests is might be when Wilkins got hurt, however, comments below the xtweet say that is not true.
But I'm curious--from this quick video, it has the appearance of Butler not happy with CW doing a celebration (for whatever reason) and tackling him to make him stop. Or was the tackle just for fun, or "knock it off," or what? No deal, big deal? Explanation anyone?

Looks as if it was in fun/celebration and although he was trotting off just fine it looks like he is cringing while he is trotting off. Maybe he had already hurt himself and butler going over the top had nothing to do with it? Did he play any snaps afterwards?Atlasffa wrote: Wed Jul 30, 2025 6:25 pm Does anyone remember this incident from last year? No idea if that was the cause. But that move looked inherently dangerous and ill-advised.16 to 88 wrote: Wed Jul 30, 2025 6:54 pm Looks as if it was in fun/celebration and although he was trotting off just fine it looks like he is cringing while he is trotting off.
