Do we need an OC/DC thread or do we just keep that talk in the Pete Carrol thread?

If we don't please delete this.

He's a 3-4 coach being asked to run a 4-3. That's the problem I have with him.

Patrick Graham has already garnered the respect around the league to be considered for head coaching opportunities. I think the chances are that if Graham fields a top 10 defense next season, that he's likely to be poached by another team. I think the better move would have been to give Leonard the DC job and allow him to grow for the 3 years that Pete is at the helm and learn how to lead from one of the best to ever do it in terms of being able to bring a group of men together and lead them. Perhaps Leonard could have the potential to be the the heir to Carroll, he's certainly got a great reputation among players, arguably better than Graham.

The respect between Graham and Leonard is evident, and Leonard seems to get a lot of latitude to grow while working with Graham. Retaining both guys is a win-win. Adding Carroll as a guiding force and motivator is another bonus. The discussion of 4-3 vs 3-4 in today's NFL isn't really relevant anymore - every team uses both these days. I feel good about the defense, as long as we retain some of our key FAs.

The other side of the ball is obviously more of an issue with lesser players and coaches. If we retain Graham as DC, then we wouldn't need to do more Rooney interviews for that role but we still need to comply on the offensive side for OC and QB coach.

We need a dynamic OC to nail the coaching off season. It was a cluster last year and the team must get it right.

Imagine McCarthy for a year while he waits for his next job?

Makes you wonder what the defense would have looked like without tue offense truning it over 3 time a game.
Much less losing half your starters to injiry.

That's good news. With the two staying together and the players healthy, tbe D should be a strength .

This is perfect. And if Graham gets a HC job next year you promote Leonard to DC and net 2 3rd rounders

I feel good about the defense, as long as we retain some of our key FAs.[/quote]I remember McDaniels being asked about 4-3 or 3-4 in his intro presser: he pointed out that teams are in a nickel defense with four guys on the line 85% of the time, so any talk about which one you "technically" are is pointless.

I thought I read somewhere Graham signed a 3 year contract.
