Do we need an OC/DC thread or do we just keep that talk in the Pete Carrol thread?

I wish they had brought Gus Bradley back. Graham never fit our scheme. And his scouting of D-linemen leaves much to be desired. T. Wilson is the latest example.

They were a top 10 unit last year, and while there were a lot of games this year where the team had nothing to play for Graham’s guy’s still showed up to work and held them in a number of times despite some big injuries. If he re-signs we really have no worries about whether our DC can do the job.

We will see what happens, but if I had to guess, the org is looking at Graham as a possible replacement for Pete.
I think if Bevel gets hired its 99% sure they go after Russ. Pete, Bevel, and Russ had a lot of success together. After years, personalities and egos got in the way, years later it looks like all those things have been resolved.
There would be no one better to teach a draft pick Bevels system than Russ. As well as Russ is still a solid QB and would make a great bridge.
It just makes too much sense.

Also, our offense left our defense hung out to dry...

If they keep Graham then they might as well keep the Turners and draft a runningback.

Im cool with it, the defense is still inconsistent but they are on the right path at least. Our defense may have been better if our offense had a heartbeat last season.

I'm a fan of this.

Think we will keep Ron Leonard to unless he gets a DC job which doesn't seem likely.

I'm not down on the move, but I'm not as optimistic as others.

I don't think Patrick Graham is the heir apparent to Pete Carroll that some people seem to think he is.

Patrick Graham has already garnered the respect around the league to be considered for head coaching opportunities. I think the chances are that if Graham fields a top 10 defense next season, that he's likely to be poached by another team. If it doesn't happen next season and he backs it up again the season after, then he is almost a certainty to be gone. If the three years is up and Pete has had enough and no other team has decided to take Graham as coach, what makes anyone think he'd be the right man for our job?

I think the better move would have been to give Leonard the DC job and allow him to grow for the 3 years that Pete is at the helm and learn how to lead from one of the best to ever do it in terms of being able to bring a group of men together and lead them. Perhaps Leonard could have the potential to be the the heir to Carroll, he's certainly got a great reputation among players, arguably better than Graham.

Hopefully the Raiders have a plan long term and aren't just focused on the next 3 years.
