Succession Plan
Probably doesn’t need its own thread but I thought it would be Brady. Or is that still Brady?

Calling someone a genius without knowing the intellectual measurements is not a fact, it is an opinion

The measurement is he had the intellect to turn $2 mil investment into $300 mil. The numbers dont lie.Attyla wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2026 5:32 am Calling someone a genius without knowing the intellectual measurements is not a fact, it is an opinion
Unless you are saying those numbers are not fact.

It sounds like Davis bought a distressed asset for $2 million. He probably paid down a bunch of debt that came with the business. He built a training facility. So his investment was certainly a lot more than $2 million. As usual there is going to be a lot more detail than some AI overview will provide, some of which is likely private information about further cash infusions. Still, if the team is actually worth $300 million then it would appear to be a surprisingly good investment.
I don't claim to know anything about the WNBA but I find it shocking that any team would be worth $300 million - how do they generate the revenue to support that valuation? Maybe far more people watch than I would think, but I'm certainly not watching.
This is a strange thread that's gone far beyond the succession planning topic, but there wasn't really much to discuss there anyway. I'm not a huge believer in Davis' acumen, nor do I mock him relentlessly like others. I think he's likely smarter than he looks and I appreciate that he truly cares if the team wins instead of just looking at the team as an investment. What makes me happy is that, after years of poor coach/GM decisions, he's moved himself largely out of the process and is letting others do it. Hopefully this version works.

Learned along time ago that if someone tries hard enough they can find a way to justify just about anything.

no, I am saying that action does not equate to a genius. There are a lot of stupid people who are able to make money.RaiderFan1 wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2026 6:13 am The measurement is he had the intellect to turn $2 mil investment into $300 mil. The numbers dont lie.

I dont watch personally but the WNBA has indeed gained popularity and values have skyrocketed. Its a solid game, for me, i just didn't grow up with it and it doesnt have the interest for me. But I could see younger generations liking and following it.

300M valuation seems very high. Not saying it is not, but given they do not own their stadium, I think that valuation might be inflated. The market almost certainly helps their valuation and the championship seasons do as well. But the income piece? With 44 games per season, even if they sell out would not drive that level of valuation and I know they sold out last year. But that is 12K seats and even on the secondary market you are getting tickets for 100 bucks. I think their training facility was built for 40M so there is some of the valuation. But that was also a cost so that washes out.DanKD wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2026 8:31 am I dont watch personally but the WNBA has indeed gained popularity and values have skyrocketed. For the record, I am not saying the valuation is wrong, it just seems out there.

took over the raiders and turned the franchise from being worth 800 million to 10 billion, took over a franchise with no ownership in the stadiums, no luxury boxes, no concessions, no parking rights and now owns the stadium, concessions, parking
bought the las vegas aces fro mgm for 2 million 5 yrs ago, now worth over 300 million in 2025 probably worth closer to 400 million now after winning its 3rd championship in 2025
everything else spouted is opinion

no, calling someone a genius without an actual intelligence score is opinion. You don't understand the definition of fact.mstrbass2000 wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2026 9:24 am fact

The Connecticut Sun have been sold to the Fertitta family (owners of the NBA's Houston Rockets) for a record-breaking $300 million. The team will play its final season in Connecticut in 2026 before relocating to Houston for 2027, where it is expected to rebrand as the Houston Comets.Attyla wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2026 9:11 am 300M valuation seems very high. Key details of the sale:
Price: The ~$300 million price tag represents a new high for a WNBA franchise, highlighting rapidly rising franchise valuations, reported MSN.
Relocation: The team will move from Uncasville, CT, to Houston, TX, in 2027, reviving the city's original WNBA franchise name, notes SportsPro.
Ownership: The buyer is Tilman Fertitta, owner of the NBA's Houston Rockets.
Status: The sale and relocation are subject to approval by the WNBA Board of Governors, notes NBC Connecticut.
Timeline: The Sun will continue operating in Connecticut for the 2026 season before the move, reports FOX Sports.
las vegas aces have won 3 championships in 5 yrs id say the valuation at 300 million is probably 400 million now if connecticut suns coud get 300 million
