Do we need an OC/DC thread or do we just keep that talk in the Pete Carrol thread?

Still, it just seems a bit odd to bring in someone else to run a departed coach's offense. The only other time I remember this happening was Ernie Zampese replacing Norv Turner as Cowboys OC decades ago, and Turner had coached under Zampese, so it was a more obvious switchover.

He has earned the benefit of the doubt.

Morton was a great hire for the Lions.

You don't coach along side those guys without picking up some great knowledge.

I've seen on-line from the "Insiders" the Raiders are trying to bring back Graham & Rob Leonard that's good...

Bevell, Shaw and Bo Hardegree are horrible choices for OC. Thats the most important hire or nothing will change...

Bevell is very uninspiring as an OC candidate, hope Pete is just doing him a favor and getting his name back out there. Feel like we can do a lot better at OC.

Bevell worked in Miami as passing game coordinator and Mike McDaniel was everyone's certified genius a year ago. Now of course he is an idiot who needs to be fired, but fans aren't fickle.

If he picked up some things while there he could still be a very good hire. MM is still a brilliant play designer and knows how to get WR's open.

2019 he had Matt Stafford for 8 games, the other 8 he had Jeff Driskel and David Blough. Stafford and the offense actually put up good numbers before he got hurt. Their best RB was Kerryon Johnson who played half the season and Bo Scarborough who played less than half the season. Golladay and Marvin Jones were the top two WR's. Stafford was throwing for over 300 yards a game with 19 TD and five interceptions.

2020 Covid season. They had 5 games where they put up over 30. One game they were shut out, but that game they were decimated by Covid on their offensive line.

Same with his stint in Jacksonville under Urban Meyer. That fiasco was nothing of his own doing and Urban called the plays while in Jacksonville.

Not saying he is the best choice, or who I would even want, but he would be a solid choice who has handled OC duties before vs. bringing in someone who has never called plays.
