Hopefully nobody feels like they have a leg up on the job. I would like every kick in camp to feel like a high pressure moment for all of them.

It honestly boils down to who makes the kicks, and I don't have a vested interest in any one guy.chucker wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 11:44 am Hopefully nobody feels like they have a leg up on the job. I would like every kick in camp to feel like a high pressure moment for all of them.

Interesting note about Reed was that he was 3-3 in successful onside kicks and is regarded as a very “technical” KO specialist. Reminds me it isn’t all about FGs

Your words, "misses chip shots like Jano was known for".Attyla wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 11:38 am neat how you changed the parameters. I can do that too, he missed 42 from inside 50 yards.
Now you are talking 40-50 yarders.
Just who here is changing parameters?

I hope he wins the job because Matt Gay is terrible and will cost the Raiders wins...

Thanks, I just heard that and was about to post it. That's a luxury for sure.rcraider wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2026 4:56 am Looks like this guy will qualify for the International Player Pathway (IPP) program so they can keep him around on the practice squad if they want and it won't take up a spot.

The one variable, if all the kickers are equal is that Tokyo Toe would be a cash bonanza for the team. Japanese players increase profits.

That would be pretty cool..... and profitable.Marzan wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 3:44 am If he makes the team, I hope they allow him to keep his name in kanji on the jersey. We'd sell a metric ton of those babies.

Yeah, sometimes teams with kickers who can hit from 50+ seem to settle too easy. They feel, well we can get three here, so they don't stay aggressive trying to pick up the extra first down or going for it on 4th when they got three in their back pocket.chucker wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 11:23 am I'm happy we signed a UDFA kicker. I'm with Attyla in that I don't need a kicker to be a "weapon", I just want to be money inside of 45 and we can put the pressure on the offense to do the rest. I don't care if it's this guy or Matt Gay, as long as someone actually wins the job - hopefully we don't have two losers and just end up picking the least shitty option.
Rookie kickers often struggle a bit, but if the competition is close then I'd rather give the job to the rookie and let him potentially take his lumps in 2026 so he's more seasoned for the job in 2027.
For us too often in the past we knew getting in range for a 50 yard FG was about as good as we could do with our offense. Maybe we could win a game 19-17 with four field goals. Hopefully, those days will soon be gone.
