I don't see how he helps with respect to what happens on the field. He has his announcing gig and whatever else (promotions), so what actual role could him or anyone else in his position fulfill that would actually help the team win more games?
Now, if he was to be given the role a QB coach, then we could legitimately be talking about his impact. If he did well, maybe he could be an OC or even HC, but it seems pretty clear that none of those things will ever happen.
I don't think his presence is good or bad. Like any other person in his position, it's neutral.

This is just media fodder. I’m on other sports forums in NFL general non-Raiders threads and fans of other teams don’t care at all. Teams are simply going to be more guarded around Brady. Knowing what a competitor Brady is, I wonder how long until he drops the TV gig to devote all his time to the Raiders.

Directing how to do things. I think on the Herd recently he said something that was big.Opoponax50 wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 9:17 am I don't see how he helps with respect to what happens on the field. If he's not doing this with Geno I don't get it.
It was about coaches and the lack there of.
He said he was great because Bill would sit with him all the time to understand defenses Cover 0,1,2,3 Man etc. When you see this do this etc. He feels like next to no other QB has ever been given such an education.
So if he isn't doing this or planning to have someone do this with Geno, that would be puzzling. But if he is, well that is how he can help the team. Finding and directing coaches to do this.
He also shared in the past what he looks for in a QB, he wants the QB above all to know where he's going as he's walking up to center by scanning the D, the QB needs these faculties.

The fan has the luxury of reacting on Monday (or Tuesday) to what they just saw. Last week, the team just got a tough win on the road and everyone was pointing to a trajectory that looked promising. We came out of that, had a longer week to prep and got beat by a division foe at home. Now me, I know division games are tricky and I also know that a lot of changes were installed into an offense that is not ideally built for the personnel. I also know we now have players from 4 distinctly different philosophies on this roster. There will be some blending but the premise is sound. I have stated all along that this is a process. We have to tear down what was poorly built in the past, while building a base that reflects the new philosophy. So we are reacting to a jigsaw puzzle with pieces from 4 different pictures. It is not going to be pretty and it is not going to make sense.Xramfan wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 8:56 am Are you saying we need more than 2 games to determine how things are playing out?
Tom's job, along with the GM and Carroll, will be to remove the wrong pieces and add in the right one's. Unfortunately, we are limited in how we do that. Was Geno the right guy to bring in? After two weeks, it is impossible to answer. They got very limited reps in the preseason games and even that was not our actual playbook, or at best a very limited example. Geno is learning about his receivers, our line is learning about our QB. Our RB is learning about the speed at the next level.
Our coaches and others are observing the process, and their job is to begin to remove the chaff. It is what Pete did his first years in Seattle. And in many ways, he got a far worse hand here than when he went there. It is a process, not a three month destination. We were never going to compete for a playoff berth our first year with all the newness.
But I read the overreactions with amusement and I keep waiting for that "aha" moment. I reviewed the tape from the last two games and there have been sparks, but not that moment. Hopefully we see it soon. But three years seems about right to get us where we need to go. But the next piece we have to add is the QB of the future. And we need to also protect his ass once he is here.

To be fair I think if the Raiders were winning super bowls then other teams fans would care. Raiders are your harmless crazy uncle currentlyheavyD wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 9:18 am This is just media fodder. Well seeing how he’s sitting in the coaches box and telling us to not sign Darnold, I’d say as a fan I’d have an interest in him.
Face it, a team like Seattle has a better foundation than us. Spytek’s old team is still winning cuz they drafted OL & gave a former top 5 overall QB pick a shot.
We could’ve had this but dumbass Mark had to hire an egomaniac like Brady. He should be thanking Telesco from this team being not worse

We had way more than 2 games of film on Darnold & Geno. Yet Brady just magically determined, with zero personnel experience, that Darnold was a creation of his buddy in Minnesota. Funny how the offense looks like crap in Minnesota & Seattle has better QB play/running game than us.Xramfan wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 8:56 am Are you saying we need more than 2 games to determine how things are playing out?
Deion told everyone his 1st year in Colorado to get their wins in now coz he’s be dominating soon. That came true didn’t it?

after two games, neither guy is a world beater. But we have a ton more tape on Geno being successful over Darnold who had one season with a loaded team to "prove" himself. Way way too early to determine if Brady is right or wrong.Sloth_Fratelli wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 10:48 am We had way more than 2 games of film on Darnold & Geno. Darnold has played way better Geno so far and even Dan Jones is playing better. Darnold got rid of the ball right away & isnt forcing throws into double coverage.Attyla wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 11:05 am after two games, neither guy is a world beater. Geno has zero film of him leading his team to 14 wins, where his division winner had 15 wins. Even Geno’s coach last year figured they need better QB play after a 10 win season.
Darnold & Jones were way HIGHER prospects than Geno hence their draft selection.
Brady had an insider view to them since his buddy coached both last year & yet we give up a draft pick for the least talented/oldest of the bunch. Yeah I’d say I have a right to say Brady screwed us

FOX dumbly signed him to a $375 million dollar contract. He isn't leaving that behind.heavyD wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 9:18 am This is just media fodder. Brady called a game last year where Seattle lost 31-10 to Buffalo. Brady spent the whole broadcast glazing Geno despite his awful performance. If I had to guess, Brady is an emotional sucker for Geno's comeback story arc and probably feels like Darnold is the classic spoiled high draft pick.Sloth_Fratelli wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 11:28 am Darnold has played way better Geno so far and even Dan Jones is playing better. you have the right to say pretty much anything you want. Just a thought though, two games into a season, I would classify your views as overreaction. If it is the case in 6 games, you might have more credibility for your views.Sloth_Fratelli wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 11:28 am Darnold has played way better Geno so far and even Dan Jones is playing better. I think the last few years of Al really broke some fans brains. They only view football through the lens of Al Davis. Every transaction is some Game of Thrones level "Who made the final call" and is the GM and Coach back stabbing each other? It's honestly sad to see. I've always said Raider fans have a nasty case of battered wife syndrome. They've been abused for so long that they've become irrational.

Geezus h gentlemen, Darnold until last year was a Bust!
Did anyone want to give the kid 300 mill and get stuck with Ryan Leaf…
F#k Darnold and the horse he ride in on…
Far as Geno, he ain’t the guy either minus last game’s performance which was a joke, 3 potential scores he missed Bowers and Myers twice
F#k Geno as well….
Nix was there at 12, Why Why why didn’t the organization trade up for Nix in the 8 9 10 range that draft?
There are 5 legit QB prospects in 26 draft, gotta get 1

Yeah I’d rather the Raiders win. I was wrong when I thought Pete wasn’t gonna upgrade the defense on the field. I thought McDonalds would be better than Biscia. liked the Minshew signing, although I wanted Darnold after what Daniel Jeremiah said about him in the 2024 off season.Attyla wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 12:03 pm you have the right to say pretty much anything you want.
