Nevada court clears way for Gruden to sue NFL

Unread post by Sold My Soul »

Sweet.

A Nevada court cleared the way Monday for a 2021 lawsuit filed by former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden to proceed against the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell, alleging that a “malicious and orchestrated campaign” was used to destroy Gruden’s career by leaking old emails he had sent that included racist, misogynistic and homophobic comments.

Would love to see the emails from Rog and the other owners to Davis to dump Gru.

And can we see all of Danny boys emails to other owners and to the league?

The decision comes days after Jon Gruden scored a similar victory in a separate case over leaked emails that led to his resignation as Raiders head coach in 2021.

This thread has been living in Enemy Lines forum but I moved it to the OG so that hopefully nobody will discuss the topic and derail other threads. Be good to each other..... thanks.

For those not in the know?

Discovery is likely not going to be something the NFL wants to be aired in any way shape or form.

I would imagine the NFL is going to try to keep discovery private. Public disclosure does not benefit the NFL in any way. Gruden would want it to be public as he has an axe to grind.

Yes, Gruden has nothing to hide unless there happens to be a map indicating where the bodies are buried. The NFL on the other hand...I wouldn't be surprised if they hand over Goddell's head to protect the shield.

Of course that won't be enough for Gruden to call off the dogs, nor should it be.

I am not sure that he does. Football is all he lives for. I think this is personal with him.

Cause Gruden, like most human beings, has a price. Also, he bears some blame to the damage to his character. If he wasn’t a butthole, none of this would be able to even exist.

I don’t know; I think Gruden is actually rich person that could just go away and live off on his savings and another point is; why did they only release Gruden email and none of other thousand of email….which is not really fair….

I really don’t know what Gruden would have done with the raiders in his fourth season; but they did look like a team that was getting it together as a team; they did make the playoff with intern coach; probably would have done the same thing under Gruden if he was in charge; so the guy probably piss off that he did not get a chance to finish the job….

Raiders would have been forever stuck in the sink hole winning 5-8 games. Gruden was actually good at getting the most of his players (good enough not to end up with a top pick) but the rosters was heavily devoid of talent due to draft failure after draft failure and signing overpriced gruden grinders

There's a saying in the business: good lawyers get things settled.

In this context "settling" doesn't mean not getting the car you wanted or some woman. Rather, it avoids trial and all the expenses that come with it. To put it in very simple terms, you have to weigh the costs of trial and its potential outcomes vs. getting a for-sure settlement. Also, in some states like California, if a jury awards you less than what the other side offered, you may be responsible for some of the defendant's attorney fees.

The vast majority of cases don't go to trial, they settle out.

What did the league do to him? He corresponded with a high level exec on a team where he received pictures of women in the employ of the team in various levels of nakedness and did not ask said exec to stop sending the pictures. He then sent emails to said exec that were pretty disgusting. He is claiming the league intended to destroy his career by leaking those emails. So far, nothing has come out that is a smoking gun verifying his claims. That is why the trial is set. That is where he either proves it or it gets disproven. If, and only if, it is proven, then the league targeted him. If that happens, the shit storm will be amazing to watch. In the meantime, the only thing we do know is that Gruden was a grown ass man and should have known better than to say what he said.

I know Gruden has a bit of a fanbase, and obviously I am not one of them, but ultimately I want the truth. If the league leaked the transcripts, they deserve what they get. If not, it will further hurt Gruden's image. Both sides have a lot to lose.
